You know, heroes don’t always wear capes! In fact, the heroes that make this world a better place are usually the every day people we encounter. In this case, a Walt Disney World Cast Member was a true hero to a 4-year-old child that he saved on the way home from his shift. Disney heard about the experience and honored the Cast Member with a special award.
As shared by Walt Disney World Cast and Community on Facebook: “Security Cast Member, Joe Diaz was recently honored with a Disney Heroes Award for helping to save the life of a young child in our Central Florida community. On his way home last December, Joe witnessed a van flip over into a pond on the side of the road and quickly jumped in, entering the partially flooded vehicle and helping to keep a trapped 4-year-old child’s head above water until emergency teams arrived and were able to free him. His bravery and compassion are an inspiration to us all, and we are so proud and grateful to honor him. Congratulations Joe! #DisneyHeroes #WDWCast #DisneySecurity”
