Disney World Imposes New Ban

Walt Disney World Resort, like any theme park, is compelled to enforce rules and regulations to ensure all guests’ safety, comfort, and enjoyment. These rules are necessary to maintain order and create an environment where families and individuals can have a positive and memorable experience.

Guests undergo screenings and bag checks before entering Disney parks to enhance security measures. This allows Disney security to ensure prohibited items are not making its way into the parks.

Lately, a common rule that has been broken is the dress code. Guests have been wearing overly revealing clothing or “offensive attire,” including clothing with profanity or vulgar imagery. Additionally, guests over 14 are prohibited from wearing costumes except during Halloween events.

One item that is prohibited but guests seem to still bring to the parks in hopes of using is selfie sticks. Disney has selfie sticks listed as prohibited items to bring into the parks due to guests trying to use them on rides or accidentally hitting another guest.

Disney continues to update and change the list of prohibited items to ensure guests’ safety. The latest item that is now banned from Disney is the newly popular Apple Vision Pro, which has sold more than 200,000 headsets since preorders opened.

Recently, YouTuber Mickey shared a video of him wearing his Apple Vision Pro at Disney World. This shows that he made it through security before being told that his new VR headset was now banned at Disney World.

During the video, if you skip to 9 minutes and 50 seconds, you can hear Mickey explain why his VR headset is now banned at Disney World. This product is banned because it is like a mask, which are banned at Disney World other than for medical purposes.

Disney may reconsider its stance on allowing the Apple Vision Pro in the future, but for now, security protocols mandate its exclusion from park attire.

Disney fans who have Apple Vision Pro should be excited about a major announcement “that began earlier this monght on its popular streaming platform. Disney+ subscribers can now enjoy Disney’s iconic stories in a new dimension, courtesy of Apple’s spatial computing technology, at no extra charge.”

While Disney’s official website has not been updated with adding VR headsets to the list of prohibited items guests looking to plan ahead for their vacation and wondering what is allowed into the parks should go ahead and be prepared to leave their VR sets at the hotel before visiting “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”

Space Mountain Ride to Close Through 2027

The upcoming closure of the Space Mountain attraction extends through 2027–more than three years from now–but the end result will be well worth the wait, as the ride’s complete overhaul will also extend to the Tomorrowland Plaza.

In 2022, Disney Parks first announced the planned closure and reimagining of the Space Mountain attraction at one of Disney’s international parks.

Having opened in 1983 with the debut of Disney’s very first Japanese theme park resort, the Space Mountain coaster at Tokyo Disneyland has been a fan favorite for more than 40 years. In light of that, however, Disney has announced a complete redo of the guest-favorite experience–one that will begin in July 2024, will last well into 2027, and will encompass a new take on the Tomorrowland Plaza as well.

tokyo disney space mountain

Tokyo Disneyland broke ground on the new Space Mountain earlier this year. The 41-year-old experience will reportedly be reimagined to offer “enhanced performance,” and the new experience will feature “immersive special effects.”

The overhaul will cost an estimated $408 million USD and will include a revamping of the Tomorrowland Plaza so that it incorporates a representation of a future “where humans are in harmony with nature.” The attraction will have a completely new look during the daytime, and after the sun goes down, the new area will transform into a “spectacular world of light and soundscapes.”

In early February 2024, Tokyo Disney Resort announced an exciting special event, created to celebrate the original version of the Space Mountain attraction, before guests bid farewell to the experience forever.

The event, Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!, will be hosted by Tokyo Disney Resort from April 9 to July 31, 2024.

Once completed, the new Space Mountain experience at Tokyo Disney Resort might even rival a once-planned Jules-Verne inspired attraction that would have served as the centerpiece of a brand-new land, also inspired by author Jules Verne.

According to researcher Kevin Perjurer, the centerpiece of the Jules Verne-inspired land centerpiece was to be a giant copper and steel pavilion that housed a replica of The Mysterious Island, the home port of Captain Nemo from Verne’s 1872 novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

20000 leagues under the sea

Per LithHub:

Docked in a giant pool would be Nemo’s golden submarine, the Nautilus, which was to be its own walk-through attraction and feature an underwater restaurant. There was going to be a giant free-fall ride, paying homage to Verne’s 1864 novel, “A Journey to the Center of the Earth,” and an ornate, Paris-Expo-esque matching train station to service the park’s perimetric railroad system. And there was to be a giant Space Mountain-inspired roller-coaster, designed after Verne’s 1865 novel “From the Earth to the Moon: A Direct Route in 97 Hours, 20 Minutes.”

But the area, as it was planned, was never built. EuroDisney, which opened in 1992, faced terrible financial troubles that halted the Jules Verne project. Eventually, construction was green-lit, but only for the creation of the From the Earth to the Moon-themed roller-coaster, which was to be a cousin of Disneyland and Disney World’s dark, indoor coaster Space Mountain.

Even with the design retraction and financial constraints, lead imagineer Tim Delaney oversaw the building of a masterpiece. Inside, and out, the ride was a sight to behold. The aesthetic of the whole area was beaux-arts steampunk, both ornate and mechanical: the exterior was shiny copper and steel, with glistening gears.

Once the newly-reimagined Space Mountain attraction opens in 2027, it will be a completely rebuilt experience that keeps the original concept of an exciting indoor coaster and an experience that includes a journey through space at high speeds.

But according to Disney Parks Blog, the new attraction will include an enhanced performance and special effects that will serve to afford guests a more immersive journey that sees a greater connection between our universe and our planet.

tokyo disney space mountain

“I’m thrilled to introduce this attraction to guests,” said Walt Disney Imagineering producer Kathleen Davis. “It’s not only a whole new ride experience, but the story also has so much emotion. Through the queue and then on the ride, we see our connection to our planet and gain a new perspective for how special it is in all the universe. It’s a roller coaster with both thrill and heart.”

“With the overarching story of appreciating our home (Planet Earth), we are making this change to spread awareness of caring for our Earth and what she’s gifted us throughout time as we know it,” said Owen Yoshino, Senior Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering.

The year 2027 sounds really far away, but it looks like the all-new experience will be well worth the long wait.

Disney Store Returns to Fans Across North America After a Nearly Seven-Year Hiatus

The Disney Store has finally returned to Disney fans across North America following a nearly seven-year hiatus.

For North American Disney fans who love everything about Disney, Disney stories, Disney films, characters, colors, merchandise, and the like, September 15, 2021, became a dreaded date.

disney store

By mid-September 2021, most Disney Stores across the continent were closed, per an announcement from Disney in March 2020.

Only 25 stores were reported to have made the cut–that is, to have remained as they were–for the time being. Even the original Disney Store, located in Glendale, California, isn’t safe from the clearing out of the fan-favorite Disney-themed locations and was among the dozens of casualties once the hammer fell and the majority of Disney’s beloved retail chain stores were gone.

But even before Disney began scrapping Disney Stores in North America, The Walt Disney Company–under Bob Iger’s administration–made the online version of the store, DisneyStore.com, a thing of the past, replacing it with a rebranding and calling Disney’s online store shopDisney.com.

In March 2020, when Disney announced it would be closing at least 60 of its retail stores in North America, the company said it would be focusing its time, attention, and energy on the online retail site, but for many fans who looked at brick-and-mortar Disney Store locations as their escape between Disney Parks pilgrimages, the news was hard to hear.

Earlier this month, Disney announced yet another change, which went into effect overnight on Tuesday.

Disney fans were surprised–and many were thrilled–to go online on Wednesday morning and find that shopDisney.com, which has been in place since 2017, had been rebranded to DisneyStore.com.

Overnight, as the transformation took place, Mickey was already on the site, teasing a new “magic” coming “in just a few hours” and redirecting fans to DisneyStore.com when they typed “shopDisney.com” in the search bar.

Beginning on Wednesday, shopDisney.com is no more, but in case you forget, don’t worry. Thanks to pixie dust and the modern marvels of technology–you’ll be directed to DisneyStore.com!

Disney Cast Member Who Suffered Devastating Injuries Mid-Performance “Fighting For Her Life”

A Disney cast member who suffered a devastating fall during a live performance inspired by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) over the weekend is reportedly “fighting for her life.”

On Saturday, 31-year-old Anastasia Olsen, a professional ice skater who portrays Belle in the Beauty and the Beast-inspired performance for Disney on Ice, was seriously injured when she suffered a devastating fall during Disney’s Magic in the Stars show at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to eye-witness accounts, Olsen appeared “shaky” before her fall, just as she was being lifted into the air as part of the performance she shared with another actor who portrayed Beast in the show. Other witnesses say the actress began exhibiting signs of seizure immediately following the accident, though it’s not clear whether Olsen did, in fact, suffer a seizure.

Olsen’s fall prompted immediate emergency medical attention, and paramedics quickly arrived and transported the actress to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

On Monday, the actress’s condition was upgraded from critical to serious, but the latest reports indicate the actress is “fighting for her life” in the wake of the injuries she suffered as a result of her fall on Saturday.

Shortly after the accident, a video of the tragic event went viral. Per the post on X, formerly Twitter, that included the video, “Beast stumbled into the side during a lift and dropped Belle on the ice.” The post further claims that the actress portraying Belle “immediately started seizing and was carried out on a stretcher.”

The video can be seen below. Please be advised that the content of the video may be unsettling for some viewers.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the young actress and her family and friends during this difficult time.
