Disney’s Failing ‘Star Wars’ Hotel To Be Completely Overhauled, Report Says

When it first opened, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was billed as an immersive hotel experience at Walt Disney World Resort that would take Guests on a two-night all-inclusive adventure, allowing them to live out their own Star Wars story aboard a luxurious “starship” called the Halcyon.

The experience is designed to be fully immersive, with Guests interacting with characters from the Star Wars universe, participating in lightsaber training and other activities, and exploring the ship’s various decks and areas. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Star Wars-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and experience the attractions and dining options there.

But, right from the start, it was met with backlash.

The prices for the hotel were out-of-this-world, as families would have to pay more than $3,500 per night to stay aboard the ship. The prices for the Star Wars hotel have been estimated at $1,209.00 per Guest per night, meaning that one Guest would pay more than $2,400.00 for the two-night experience.

While many Disney Park fans were willing to pay the astronomical pricepoint for an experience similar to what the Star Wars experience was billed to give, most who have boarded the Halcyon have been disappointed. Disney just offered a 30% discount for Annual Passholders on the Galactic Starcruiser, and the company has announced a new schedule for the hotel beginning this fall, as a voyage per week has been cut.

A report from ScreamScape speculates that Disney could use the new schedule as a way to offer a “discounted mid-week voyage,” or come up with an entirely different voyage concept altogether.

“The new fall schedule does give them the perfect opportunity to offer a discounted mid-week voyage if they wanted to experiment with the concept and pricing going forward,” ScreamScape shared. “And  just thinking outside the box… it would be interesting to see Disney come up with an alternate voyage concept with a different series of events that could take place over 2 days and only require a 1-night stay that would skip out on the day excursion to Batuu (aka: Galaxy’s Edge) that could be offered at an entirely different price-point.”

Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed by Disney.

There have been rumors circulating for quite some time about the future of the Galactic Starcruiser, though, and there are quite a few fans who’d like to see the experience completely overhauled and changed to provide a more immersive, and less expensive, offer for fans to enjoy.

At this point, however, it’s unclear if Disney will listen to fans or if it will continue to move forward with the voyages as they are already being conducted.

Disney Guests Kicked Out For Putting Bodily Fluid on Others

Disneyland Resort is a theme park resort located in Anaheim, California, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Disneyland is known as “The Happiest Place on Earth.” However, some Guests try and ruin the Disney magic for other Guests.

Disneyland Resort includes two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Disneyland Park is the original Park. It is filled with classic Disney attractions, including the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a small world,” Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Space Mountain, and many more attractions. Disneyland Park also features various lands, such as Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Tomorrowland, and Main Street, U.S.A.

Next door at Disney California Adventure Park, the theme park includes different lands such as Avengers Campus, Cars Land, Pixar Pier, and many more. Guests heading to Disney California Adventure Park can enjoy attractions such as Incredicoaster, Jessie’s Critter Carousel, Toy Story Mania!, Radiator Springs Racers, Grizzly River Run, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, and many more.

In a recent social media post, one Guest shared a story about seeing another Disney Park Guest standing on a bridge over the Grizzly River Run in Disney California Adventure Park spitting on top of other Guests. While this Guest was spitting on others, another Guest went and told a Cast Member about this incident, and they removed them from the Park.

“There was some teenager standing in line on one of the bridges that goes over the River Rapids ride,” the Guest said. “My mom and I watched this guy literally repeatedly spit on people from the top of the bridge as they passed underneath him. We were standing closer to a park employee than we were to the guy so my mom told the employee and they kicked the guy out of the park.”

If you happen to see an incident while at Disneyland, you can find your nearest Cast Member, and they will be able to help. While Disneyland is a fun, exciting place to be, Guests need to remember to be kind and courteous to others while they are there.

Disney Announces Changes to Their Virtual Queue System

If you are a Disney fan who hasn’t been living under a rock, you know that tomorrow marks the grand opening of the new TRON attraction in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World Resort. Early this morning at 7:00 a.m. ET, Guests visiting this Disney Park will wake themselves up to try and grab one of the coveted spots in the new roller coaster’s virtual queue. For the lucky few who get a place, be sure to know the changes to Disney’s virtual queue system before you head into Magic Kingdom.

For those who do not know, the virtual queue system is Disney’s way of managing the lines of popular rides and attractions. Instead of having it be a free-for-all with lines stretching a mile long, Disney has implemented a new system to help manage crowds. For very popular rides like TRON Lightcycle/Run, fans hoping to ride it on opening day will wake up early to try and secure a space in one of the ride’s “boarding groups.”

If you do manage to get into a boarding group for TRON, there are a few things you need to know. Firstly, each Guest will only be allowed to enter the virtual queue once per day for this attraction. Disney explains that even if you are given a boarding group, you are not guaranteed to ride the attraction. Boarding groups will be called based on availability.

Disney also mentioned an important new change to their virtual queue policy. In the past, Walt Disney World has been lenient with Guests punctuality when they come to check in for their boarding groups. In the past, Guests have been given an hour of wiggle-room after their boarding group is called to make it to the ride. This is no longer the case.

Disney has announced that Guests must be at the attraction when their boarding group is called. If they are not there, no late arrivals will be accommodated.

If you get a spot on the virtual queue for TRON, be ready to drop whatever you’re doing to be at the attraction in time. Walt Disney World is not messing around!

Tomorrowland Launch Depot Now Open to All Guests

Via wdwnt.com

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. has been transformed into Tomorrowland Launch Depot and serves as the TRON Lightcycle Run gift shop. After spending much of the day serving as a reservation-only location, the new shop outside of Tron Lightcycle Run is now open to all guests visiting Magic Kingdom.

Yesterday, the Tomorrowland Launch Depot was reserved to guests who had booked an opening day reservation for the TRON Identity Program experience. Though the opening day experience was canceled, Disney reconciled with guests who had booked the experience by providing them with an exclusive first entry into the new TRON merchandise shop.

It was originally expected that the shop would open to all guests beginning tomorrow.

We had the chance to take a full tour of the Tomorrowland Launch Depot as it opened to guests today. It’s located between TRON and Space Mountain (it has always been the Space Mountain gift shop). There are entrances from the main Tomorrowland walkway and the exit walkway from TRON Lightcycle / Run.
