Fired Exec Threatens “Serious Legal Consequences” For Disney

Amid massive layoffs and restructuring, Disney is cleaning house. Heads have been rolling at the Walt Disney Company since November with the sudden (and not entirely unwelcome) firing of former CEO Bob Chapek. No one knows who will be next on the chopping block as Disney looks to trim the fat.

One recently ousted exec, former President of Physical and Post Production, Visual Effects, and Animation of Marcel Studios Victoria Alonso, isn’t going to take her firing lightly. In fact, she’s got a lot to say about it and intends to say it in court. The Oscar-nominated producer has lawyered up and, according to Deadline, has retained the services of Patty Glaser. Law Dragon refers to Glaser as “Quite simply the go-to litigator in Los Angeles for business litigation and other high-profile cases.”

Glaser, a senior partner at Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP, has experience tangling with Disney and is currently suing the House of Mouse over the firing of Karyn McCarthy from Star Wars TV series The Acolyte.

Disney exec lawsuit

Alonso and her attorney claim she was fired due to her Amazon Studios produced film Argentina, 1985, stating that Disney viewed her work for competing 🎙 as a breach of contract despite giving their blessing to pursue the project. This isn’t the first time the Marvel executive has been under the microscope with the higher-ups at Disney- she was one of the vices that led the charge against Bob Chapek’s handling of the so-called “Don’t Say Gay Bill.” Glaser released a public statement on Alonso’s behalf saying,

“The idea that Victoria was fired over a handful of press interviews relating to a personal passion project about human rights and democracy that was nominated for an Oscar and which she got Disney’s blessing to work on is absolutely ridiculous. Victoria, a gay Latina who had the courage to criticize Disney, was silenced. Then she was terminated when she refused to do something she believed was reprehensible. Disney and Marvel made a really poor decision that will have serious consequences. There is a lot more to this story and Victoria will be telling it shortly—in one forum or another.”

It is unclear at this time what the lawyer claims was so reprehensible to Alonso. It is assumed that detail will be revealed during litigation. Alonso has claimed Disney and Marvel have tried to silence her in the past, even going so far as to forbid her from speaking to the press.

Disney has fired back with a statement of their own, following Alonso’s exit, saying, “It’s unfortunate that Victoria is sharing a narrative that leaves out several key factors concerning her departure, including an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy. We will continue to wish her the best for the future and thank her for her numerous contributions to the studio.”

This ongoing battle seems to be only just heating up. Stay tuned right here as we bring you the latest in what is likely to be a salacious fight between the former executive and the Power House studio.

Guest Hands Out $800 Worth of Gifts to Children at Disney

When visiting a Disney Park, Guests look forward to experiencing the Magic that surrounds them. There is something beautiful and inspiring about getting to immerse yourself in so much joy and wonder. Some Cast Members go above and beyond for their Guests by making some Magical Moments happen while in the Park. Anything from some pixie dust to a special character interaction can count as a magical moment.

One Disney Guest was in the spirit of giving on a recent trip to Walt Disney World Resort. He decided to go above and beyond to make the Disney experience extra magical for some children.

Visiting Disney Parks is an incredibly expensive thing to do. Between accommodations, Park tickets, food, and merchandise, it’s easy to spend a large amount of money at a Disney Resort. For TikToker @Kurttocci, money seems to be no object.

Kurt is a TikToker who has amassed a massive 1.6 million followers for his content. He is known for making fun, upbeat videos. He describes his niche as “making people smile.” Kurt often films video content within the Disney Parks. In a video uploaded on March 20, 2023, Kurt showed himself making some magic over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort.

In the video, he heads over to Galaxy’s Edge to give “the force” to some youngsters visiting the Park. Kurt headed to a store and grabbed dozens of Star Wars lightsabers. The total of his buying spree was a staggering $809.20!

After making his big purchase, he went on to hand out the lightsabers to dozens of children. It was so cool seeing so many magical moments happening in the Park! Some of the Cast Members even supported him, and Wookie gave him some big grunts of approval.

Disney Influencers Face Lawsuits and Arrest For Illegal Savings Hack

The Walt Disney Company is taking legal action against Disney influencers who hold an Annual Pass for repeat admission to this Disney Parks Resort after they violated the service term agreement.

With the rising cost of theme park entry for Disney Parks like the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland in Southern California, and even the international locations, some Guests get creative trying to save money on a Disney day. Moreover, for those who plan on frequent visits to their local Disney Park, utilizing the Annual Pass programs available, such as Magic Key, can be thrifty in the long run.

Like here, general admission to the Chinese Disney Park fluctuates based on date and demand, with a range of HK$639 ($81.43 USD) on weekdays to HK$759 ($96.72 USD) during weekends and public holidays. In contrast, the Magic Access pass is just a bit more for the lowest tier at HK$1348 ($171.78 USD), though the premium perks at its highest range are around $4278 ($545.15 USD).

Of course, Disney has strict guidelines in place to prevent abuse of this program, such as blackout dates, the Park reservation system, and even taking Guests photos upon entry and/or registration to prevent misuse of the Annual Pass. At Hong Kong Kong Disneyland, the Magic Access pass functions similarly to its US counterparts, allowing Guests to visit yearly at a reduced rate than if they were to purchase individual tickets each time.

However, according to the South China Morning Post, some crafty Guests are hoping to save even more by renting out a single Magic Pass to numerous users! In fact, the Post reports that the Hong Kong Resort recently caught some Disney influencers bragging about this taboo hack online, detailing how they rent different Annual Pass tiers on Carousell, a public selling platform similar to American eBay.

For example, about 20 different listings advertised the use of a Magic Access pass and detailed appearance guidelines for the day so as to match the ID photo associated with the pass. Shockingly, these allowed Guests to unethically visit Hong Kong Disneyland for just HK$100 ($12.74 USD) a day with a refundable deposit of $500 ($63.71 USD) down.

Hong Kong Disneyland Welcome Sign with Characters

Furthermore, Disney claims this is not an isolated incident but a growing widespread problem of unauthorized commercial use due to increased travel restrictions for the Hong Kong area, leading many to try and recoup their pass fees online. Even so, the cheap trip trick violates the Magic Access Pass terms of service, giving Disney grounds to remove any Guests suspected of using it immediately, press charges, or even enact permanent lifetime bans for all involved if it cannot verify their identity and pass eligibility.

Hong Kong Disneyland has resolved to “handle such abuses very seriously and will contact the law enforcement authorities if there is any suspected case of fraud or illegal conduct,” meaning just… find other ways to save!

After Hours at Disney Park Will Soon Be Unavailable

Another Disney After Hours event is about to come to an early end. For many families, visiting the Park during the day can feel overwhelming. Luckily for Guests at Walt Disney World Resort, Disney offers special “after hours” events. These events give Guests special access to the Parks after they are closed to the general public. Fans who love this ticketed event are shocked to know that only a few more tickets are being offered at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the rest of the season.

Disney After Hours is a staple for many Disney fans. This event allows Guests to see the Park after regular hours. It gives a whole new perspective on the land. The event also is incredibly time effective when it comes to getting on as many rides as possible. The smaller crowds make it so Guests can ride a lot of rides in less time. Special treats are also included in the price of admissions.

After Hours makes the Parks more accessible for many people who get overwhelmed by the massive crowds. They have become very popular, and tickets have been selling more. It is not uncommon to see the events sell out.

Earlier this week, that is what happened at Magic Kingdom Park. The Park ended up selling out for the entire season. This news was devastating to many fans.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

A seasonal sellout is likely happening for another Disney Park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has sold out more nights of their After Hours event. After Hours events will be happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from now until June 28, 2023. So far, around half of those events have sold out.

If you want to attend one f these events, you should consider buying a ticket as soon as possible. Tickets are $149 each. There are also after-hours events at other Parks including Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and EPCOT still available.
