Hold onto your hats – new Indiana Jones-inspired merchandise is coming soon to Disney Parks and shopDisney!

If you’re headed out on an expedition, you might want to make sure you have the right wardrobe for any adventure. Get your own beige safari-style shirt and jacket inspired by everyone’s favorite archaeology professor. Complete the look with a fedora, and don’t forget to save room in your bag for any ancient remains you find during your travels!

Perhaps you’re looking for some museum-worthy artifacts to add to your home collection, without running into any snakes. If it’s fortune and glory that you seek, you can soon bring home your very own ancient artifact collectibles based on props from the movies including the Sankara Stone, the Fertility Idol, the Crystal Skull, and even the Holy Grail.

Creating these collectible versions of some of Indy’s greatest discoveries was an adventure in itself. “To make sure these items were as authentic as possible, we reviewed the film props from the Lucasfilm Archives to study size, reference details, capture 3D scans and more in order to recreate them into collectible items,” said Cody Hampton, Senior Manager, Brand Merchandising. “We also try to anticipate features that fans would expect from these replicas, so we added a light up feature to the Sankara Stone, as well as the Crystal Skull.”

Each collectible has unique packaging, including the backstory of the item from the Indiana Jones movies, as well as backstory on the real world artifact it was based on. “Bringing this collection to the fans has been a treat for us, and we are so excited for our guests to be able to add these discoveries to their own collections,” said Cody.

These artifact collectibles are coming soon to both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, and will be available for pre-order on shopDisney.com beginning June 24.

There’s even more for adventure-seekers and collectors to look forward to, because more discoveries are on the horizon. I’m thrilled to share a first look at two new items coming later this Fall – a Staff of Ra Headpiece collectible inspired by “Raiders Of The Lost Ark,” and an Indiana Jones doll and pin set inspired by “Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom.” Fans of the Indiana Jones movies will love obtaining these rare antiquities for their own collections. Happy adventuring!

List of Character Greeting Spots Reopening Soon at Disney World

While “normal” character greetings with hugs and autographs returned to Walt Disney World in mid-April 2022, many characters greeting spots continue to be unavailable for greetings. Thankfully, Disney has announced that many will be reopening in the next few weeks, and even more in the next few months.

One of the most rewarding parts of the steady return of live entertainment to Walt Disney World Resort has been watching guests create special moments with their Disney character friends once more. Whether it be a wave in a parade, a family photo or a warm embrace, these encounters bring even more magic to each visit. That’s why I can’t wait to share what’s next for new and returning characters as we continue The World’s Most Magical Celebration!

Magic Kingdom Park

Let’s kick things off with some exciting news for Magic Kingdom Park. We may not talk about Bruno, but we can definitely talk about Mirabel making her debut in the “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade” on June 26! The young hero from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film “Encanto” will join Miguel from “Coco,” Nick and Judy from “Zootopia,” Max, Goof, Moana and more as this super-sized cavalcade winds through the park several times each day.

Looking ahead to July, the always iconic Minnie Mouse will join Mickey Mouse starting on July 6 in Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom Park. Both will be ready for hugs and photos in their EARidescent fashions designed specifically for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration!

Then, on July 10, keep an eye out for familiar Fantasyland friends Peter Pan and Snow White as they greet guests at Magic Kingdom Park once again.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

July 6 also marks the return of Chip ‘N Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, where you can join the nutty friends for a campfire celebration followed by a classic Disney movie under the stars.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars Launch Bay returns July 17! A celebration of the legendary space saga, Star Wars Launch Bay is your place for a warm embrace with Chewbacca, a face-to-droid encounter with BB-8 or a run-in with Darth Vader himself for those brave enough.

In the Coming Months!

And those are just the next few weeks! We have even more fun, hugs and memories on the horizon. In the coming months, a visit to Magic Kingdom Park will bring chances to meet Aladdin, Jasmine, Merida, Pooh, Tigger and Storybook Circus pals like The Great Goofini in Pete’s Silly Sideshow. Your favorite toys will be ready for playtime in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Donald Duck and friends will rejoin their prehistoric party at “Donald’s Dino-Bash!” in DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

These exciting character encounters add to the many terrific offerings returning across Walt Disney World Resort, including Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue stomping into Pioneer Hall June 23, and Harmony Barber Shop creating magical memories on Main Street once again beginning July 31.

July 4th Fireworks Shows Returning to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT

July 4 fireworks are returning to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT this year after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.

The Walt Disney World calendar is now showing that the 4th of July firework shows will return this summer. At Magic Kingdom, “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” has showtimes at 9:20 pm on July 3 and July 4. Meanwhile, at EPCOT, the park will celebrate with a special ending following the nighttime spectacular “Harmonious.” On July 4 , the calendar lists “Harmonious” showing at 9:00 pm and the July 4th ending will follow immediately. Unlike Magic Kingdom, this special show will only be shown on July 4.

Questionable Content from Disney’s “Pinocchio” won’t be part of the live-action remake

Though it’s touted as a Disney “remake,” the 2022 live-action take-two of Disney’s 1940 classic, Pinocchio, will not feature much of the classic’s questionable content.

PIXAR celebrated the release of Lightyear over the weekend. The first Pixarian film to debut at the box office in more than two years, Lightyear is the “definitive origin story” of the space ranger, Buzz Lightyear, who inspired a line of action figures like the Buzz fans see in the Toy Story film franchise. Unlike Toy Story, however, Lightyear features content that some have deemed “questionable” or “controversial.”

But regardless of fans’ sentiments about the content, PIXAR producers made it undeniably clear that the animated film powerhouse had no intentions of modifying the content in the film.

But Disney has chosen to omit some of the content from its 1940 classic, Pinocchio, at least when it comes to the live-action remake, which is set to debut exclusively on the Disney+ streaming platform in September, according to GameRant:

“Director Robert Zemeckis and company certainly have their work cut out for them in making this tale friendly enough for audiences,” a post online at GameRant.com reads. “Released in 1940, the original “Pinocchio” has a plethora of moments and characters which might be frowned on today. Not only are they scary, but they reflect a different time in terms of what was politically acceptable. As such, some parents might worry about exposing their kids to the wrong values. Disney likely won’t take the risk of driving away consumers in this way, so viewers can expect to see plenty of changes with this remake.”

For starters, the canine version of Honest John will likely be absent or replaced with a human version of a similar character. For one thing, he’s a bit scary, and for another thing, as GameRant points out, if the film features a talking fox who walks on his hind legs and tricks children into participating in his schemes, a talking puppet who dreams of being a real boy might not seem so special.

The Italian character from the 1940 film named Stromboli may also be replaced, and that’s to squash the racial stereotypes involved in his character. In the Disney classic, Stromboli is flamboyant and echoes visages of a gypsy, which is a bit distasteful now, though it wasn’t in 1940. For these reasons, Disney will more than likely remove the Stromboli character or create a less-offensive version of him in the upcoming release.

Swearing and smoking will undoubtedly not be included in the 2022 version of Pinocchio. In the 1940 version, the word “jackass” is used a few times, and the film also features characters who smoke. It’s safe to assume Disney will want a lesser word than “jackass” in the new film, and smoking will absolutely be absent in the film. After Walt Disney died in December 1966 from lung cancer, the Walt Disney Company decided to ban smoking in its films.

Pinocchio‘s Pleasure Island will undoubtedly be left in the dust of 1940, as it nods to the practice of human trafficking:

“This is among the scarier scenes not just because of the visuals but also due to the implications. Pleasure Island is a place where kids can misbehave to their heart’s content. Delinquent activities include gambling and chomping on cigars. These already raise red flags with today’s Disney; they don’t even want adults smoking in their movies anymore. However, it only gets worse.

Kids who indulge in this bad behavior slowly turn into donkeys. The overseers then ship them to various unscrupulous organizations, never to be seen nor heard from again. Yep, an animated movie has human trafficking.”

Pinocchio live action Disney 2022: quando esce, dove vederlo, trailer e cast

Though Disney is in the business of live-action remakes, as evidenced by the copious numbers of remakes to date, the House of Mouse has been diligent in attempting to stop the perpetuation of stereotypes that found their way into earlier films, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Disney’s remake of Pinocchio appears to be no different.

You can stream Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks as Gepetto, beginning September 8, 2022, on Disney+.
