Cast Member Recalls 10-Foot Snake Sneaks Through Line of 200 Disney Guests

Walt Disney World Resort — and other Disney Parks around the globe — would not operate as seamlessly as they do without the efforts of their hard-working Cast Members each and every day.

Because Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to the Harambe Wildlife Reserve, animals sometimes do very unexpected things, accidentally making exciting — and sometimes unwanted — memories for Park Guests.

One Cast Member shared a particularly interesting tale with People magazine — one that will be quite harrowing for those who suffer from Ophidiophobia!

The Cast Member said:

“I worked a ride in Animal Kingdom a long time ago. I saw a 10-foot-long snake emerge from an area with lots of plants and bushes. It slowly works its way through a line of about 200 people. It weaved its way through people’s legs, strollers, bags, etc… and then it just casually slipped back into another wooded area. No one noticed!”

While the CM did not share which Animal Kingdom ride this situation occurred at, it is quite likely that it was Kilimanjaro Safaris. There are, however, some animals that roam — and fly! — throughout the theme park, so the snake could have made its way through the queue at Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, or any number of other attractions.

MCU’s ‘Hawkeye’ Series Is No More

Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios has a long and complicated history of changing plans, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series.

In a recent announcement, Marvel has quietly confirmed the fate of the acclaimed Avenger-led television show.

Marvel Phase Four has issued a lot of firsts for the superhero studio. What began with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man (2008) has exploded into a behemoth blockbuster franchise spanning big and small screens. It was last year that Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe officially transitioned into streaming Original series with the release of WandaVision on Disney+. The Marvel studio that was once exclusively restricted to movie theaters now allowed fans to experience the MCU in new and interesting ways.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier quickly followed WandaVision, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson shedding his feathers as Falcon and becoming the new Captain America, taking the mantle that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) left behind. Then came Loki, the MCU’s biggest streaming release to date, with Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie) taking viewers across the Multiverse and introducing the Sacred Timeline.

Marvel had another first when Summer came around. The first animated canon television series debuted and while What If…? seemed like a filler at first, as the episodes continued, it may just be the key to the MCU’s entire future.

November brought Jeremy Renner back into the fold as Clint Barton/Hawkeye. This is the first time fans have seen Hawkeye since the devastating events of Avengers: Endgame (2019) — Black Widow (2021) aside — and, along with Hailee Steinfeld’s debut as Kate Bishop, the series drew acclaim from fans and critics alike as Hawkeye explored Barton’s Ronin persona amid Christmas season in New York City.

But, what about a Season 2?

Hawkeye Season 1 seemingly left off in a place where the story of the Avenger could continue, it even debuted Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the MCU, but it would seem Marvel has decided the fate of the series with a recent Emmys announcement.

Variety reported:

After initial plans to submit it in limited series, Variety has learned exclusively that “Loki” will seek Emmy love in the drama categories.

Disney’s original plan was to submit the third MCU TV series in the limited series field alongside its other MCU counterparts “Hawkeye” with Jeremy Renner and “Moon Knight” with Oscar Isaac. But, unfortunately, that’s not so simple because of “Loki’s” post-credits scene in the final episode that reads: “Loki will return in season 2.”

From creator Jonathan Igla, and Rhys Thomas, who led the directing team, Hawkeye was always pitched as a limited series, but, many of the other Marvel Phase Four TV shows were also. As the report notes, Loki was going to be submitted in the Limited Series category, but that post-credits scene signaling a second season for the popular show eradicated that possibility. Likewise, last year Marvel Studios opted to submit The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Drama Series, despite it not having yet received an order for a sophomore season.

It was recently confirmed, although not surprising considering her next appearance as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), that WandaVision was one and done. Michael Waldron and Kate Herron’s Loki was seemingly the same until the development of the series proved there was more to Loki than first thought (isn’t there always?).

In a similar vein, Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could have been moved to Drama Series in 2021 to avoid competing with WandaVision, or it is more likely that Feige’s team wants to tell more of the buddy-cop-style story before Captain America 4 releases some time in the future.

That being said, Hawkeye fans will likely not see a second season of the Marvel Comics action-drama, but a spinoff series, Echo, was already confirmed a while ago. Native American Deaf actress, Alaqua Cox, brought Maya Lopez AKA Echo to the MCU and will continue her story in this self-titled series, most likely releasing in 2023. It is rumored that D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) will star alongside Cox.

Baby Zebra Tragically Dies at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Over the years, Disney has done a lot of work in the conservation world to help animals that are endangered or at risk of becoming endangered. Disney has worked — and is continuing to work — to help save animals like butterflies, sea turtles, zebras, silverback gorillas, rhinoceroses, and more. They also help the state of Florida with things like rehabilitating injured manatees.

Disney has entire teams dedicated to helping these animals and taking care of them through all stages of their lives. People like Dr. Mark Penning — Vice President, Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment — monitor and love the animals from the time they are born. While Disney is one of the safest places in the world for them, these are wild animals and, unfortunately, sometimes tragic things can happen.

On Thursday, April 14, a family was visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Animal Kingdom Lodge has its own small savanna where animals like zebras and giraffes are free to roam. There are also ostriches. According to the family, one of the ostriches chased a young zebra. The zebra tried to run away from the ostrich and ended up running full speed into a fence. Sadly, the baby zebra was fatally injured, although the family did report that Disney Cast Members did everything they could to try to save it.

video of Cast Members working to try to save the zebra was shared with WESH News by Guests who were standing at a distance to give everyone space.

Disney has not announced which zebra it was that died at Animal Kingdom Lodge. In October, Dr. Penning reported that a Hartmann’s mountain zebra named Zarina was born at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is the last report we have of a baby zebra being born at the Walt Disney World Resort. Witnesses say that the Cast Members were absolutely shattered by the death, with some of them noticeably crying.

Walt Disney World Cast Members love taking care of these animals as much as Guests love being able to see them up close and in person. Having such a terrible accident occur in such an unexpected way must have been incredibly shocking. Sometimes it is easy to forget that these are wild animals and that anything can happen at any time.

The Kardashians Made Guests Wait So They Could Ride Attractions By Themselves

If you frequent Disneyland Resort — as a lot of locals do — then you know that there is a chance that, on any given day, you could see a celebrity. Oftentimes, those celebrities will be seen being escorted around Disneyland or Disney California Adventure with Cast Members wearing plaid vests. Those vests indicate that the group has paid for a VIP Tour — which means that they don’t have to wait in the stand-by queues to ride an attraction, they get automatic Lightning Lane access.

While the Guests on the VIP tours do get Lightning Lane access, they typically do not get to ride the attractions by themselves. And most would never think to ask. However, that same thought process does not seem to run in the Kardashian family. Kim and her sister Khloé Kardashian recently visited The Happiest Place on Earth with their daughters Chicago and True, as well as their brother Rob’s daughter, Dream. The girls were excited to be in the Parks and ride some of the most popular attractions, which is where the problems originated.

Disneyland Resort is always crowded, as an “off-season” seems to be a thing of the past. Many attraction wait times frequently surpass 30 minutes, forcing Guests to pick and choose what attractions are most important to ride during their trip. So, you can imagine the frustration many of them felt when they were forced to wait even longer because the Kardashians were riding the attractions — by themselves.

kardashian's Disneyland

That’s right. Kim and Khloé posted videos from their magical trip, and it is evident that no one else is on the ride when they are. Kim and her family rode the  Dumbo attraction and all of the other ride vehicles are empty. The long line and crowds can be seen as they circle the Guests.

There were also aggravated Guests at the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland. Rachael Kevin was visiting Disneyland with her family, waiting to ride the teacups, and shared a video of the long line of people all waiting while the Kardashians rode by themselves. According to Rachael, her family and everyone else in line, were forced to wait even longer, so the Kardashians could have the ride to themselves. In the video, young children can be seen watching a ton of empty cups go around while only a handful of people enjoy the ride.

Now, this is not completely on the Kardashians. A lot of the blame should be directed at Disney. Just because you are a celebrity does not mean that you should get all sorts of special treatment. It does not mean that you should get the ride to yourself. Disney does not have to allow this. They could treat the Kardashians the same as every other group at the Park. They could tell them that their other Guests matter just as much. But they don’t.
