Meet and Greets Return to Disney Park

At Disneyland Paris, things are slowly beginning to move back to normal.

At the moment, COVID-19 changes are still very present at Disneyland Paris. We have seen Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Shanghai Disneyland Resort both shut down again due to the ongoing pandemic, however other Resorts like Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort are beginning to look like a much more normal theme park experience with crowds filling the Park’s once again.

The Park that started as Euro Disney and then transformed into Disneyland Paris with Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studio Park has grown so much over the past 30 years, and now as the Park continues to expand we are finally able to kick off the amazing celebrations of the 30th anniversary. Sleeping Beauty Castle is now lit with LED lighting, the decor is in place, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and the rest of the gang have their outfits ready, Illuminations returned, and there is an all-new song for the celebration that sends a party down Main Street, U.S.A.! And that is just the tip of the iceberg, we haven’t even discussed the new drone technology that lit up the night sky.

Right before the beginning of the celebrations, we saw characters meet and greets return for fur characters. Guests were finally able to give characters like Winnie the Pooh a hug after two years. Now, it seems character meet and greets are returning in a bigger way, with face characters!

On top of that, they also reported that character dining is returning to a few dining locations:

These steps forward mark an exciting time for Disneyland Paris which is slowly returning to a pre-pandemic state after facing multiple hardships and closures from the pandemic.

$100K Disney World Lawsuit by Guest

Via InsideTheMagic.net

A new lawsuit has been filed against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US Inc. and Disney Vacation Development Inc. regarding a 2019 incident involving Guests at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Mr. and Mrs. Klinger are suing these departments of The Walt Disney Company for a six-figure sum after Mrs. Klinger severely injured herself while staying at the Deluxe Villa Resort.

The claim seeks retribution for the negligent behavior of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US Inc. and Disney Vacation Development Inc. As seen in this public civil court document, the plaintiffs are seeking a monetary sum in excess of $100,000.00 for the alleged negligence of the defendant.

The complaint submitted by the Klingers reveals the incident that left Mrs. Klinger seriously injured at the Disney Resort. The public court records state:

On or about February 14, 2019, [Mr. and Mrs.] Klinger were guest of the Resort. On that day, Mrs. Klinger was injured while using the sandcastle water slide at the Resort pool. Mrs. Klinger impacted the floor of the pool with sufficient force to injure her.

As a result, Mrs. Klinger suffered a severe left ankle injury including ligament tears which required surgical intervention. Since the initial surgery, Mrs. Klinger has been diagnosed with chronic regional pain syndrome as a result of the incident.

The complaint clearly states that at all times Disney Parks owned and operated the attraction at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and that they, solely, are responsible for Mrs. Klinger’s injury.

Defendant, DISNEY PARKS, as owner or operator of the Resort, owed Mrs. Klinger a duty to maintain its premises in condition that was safe for all guests through the use and implementation of regular inspections, repair procedures, maintenance and follow-up and to correct dangerous conditions of which it either knew or should have known existed by the use of reasonable care.

The list of Disney Parks’ breaches of health and safety are listed below, per the documents:

Defendant, DISNEY PARKS, breached its duties in one or more of the following ways:

a. Failing to maintain the sandcastle water slide in order to avoid the amount of water to increase the speed beyond the recommended standard;

b. Failing to maintain the depth of the catch pool;

c. Failing to have a proper angle for the exit flume;

d. Failing to instruct users of the proper body position; and

e. Failing to include adequate warnings regarding user body position.

As for Disney Vacation Development Inc., the plaintiffs issue similar complaints, and as a result of both Disney Vacantion Development Inc. and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US Inc. the plaintiff:

…sustained pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, permanent injury, loss of wages, incurred medical expenses, and has sustained a loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life in the past and will incur these losses in the future.

The complaint submitted by attorney Garay Law shows that the plaintiffs demand a jury trial.

Treasures of Xandar Store Announced for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Walt Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley announced on Instagram that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will have a merchandise store called Treasures of Xandar and shared some of its backstory.

Riddley shared an image of the freshly installed Treasures of Xandar sign outside the Wonders of Xandar pavilion where guests will enter and exit Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

The sign is made of metal and mostly silvery grey. Some purple cuts through the center.

Riddley writes the following:

Another exciting milestone this morning at the Wonders of Xandar pavilion as we announce and reveal our merchandise location: Treasures of Xandar!

This store is operated by The Broker, a proud Xandarian, who’s been awarded the contract and brought part of his famous store here to EPCOT. Some of the merchandise pays tribute to Xandar and items acquired throughout the galaxy and, of course, some items celebrate The Heroes of Xandar, the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Broker also shared the following with our WDI team recently: “I am so delighted to bring my wares to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion. As a proud Xandarian, it gives me great pleasure to represent my planet to you Terrans and allow you to bring home a small bit of Xandar from my shop: Treasures of Xandar. I only hope that it brings our two cultures that much closer together.”

Seeing these design elements come into place completes years worth of dreaming and creating by our talented team. And the results are out of this world! We look forward to inviting all of you to the opening this summer as part of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.

The Broker is a character who appeared in the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” film. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is expected to open Memorial Day weekend.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Prepares to Reopen

Internal casting has begun for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, indicating a reopening of the beloved childrens’ salon across Walt Disney World. The boutique has locations in the Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. The locations allow children 12 and under to become a Disney princess or prince and is a favorite tradition for guests visiting with younger ones. Only the retail end is open at the Disneyland Resort, with all other locations in Florida, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai still closed due to the pandemic’s effects.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques onboard the Disney Cruise Line ships have already resumed operations.
