Guest Treats Disney World Fountain Like a Swimming Pool

Via DisDining.com

When you visit Walt Disney World Resort, you are agreeing to abide by a number of rules that are in place throughout the Resort. For example, there are no weapons allowed on property, adults cannot wear full-on costumes, and stroller wagons are no longer allowed in the Parks. These regulations are in place to keep Guests as safe as possible while on their magical vacation. Guests are also expected not to cut in line and to always behave appropriately.

Unfortunately, lately, it seems that many Guests have forgotten these rules, and their behavior while in the Parks has been exceptionally below par.

Throughout Walt Disney World Resort’s massive property, there are a number of fountains. The gorgeous fountains can not only be found in the theme parks, but also at all of the Resort hotels, as well as in Disney Springs. These fountains are decorative and are not for Guests to swim in, play in, or put their bare feet in. However, it seems that one Guest recently forgot about — or just decided to ignore — those rules.

Not long ago, Twitter user Mardi Con (@TheConnorWeb) visited Disney Springs and saw something that made him do a double-take. A Guest, an adult, was standing in one of the fountains in his bare feet. Connor shared the sight on Twitter.

Standing in a Walt Disney World — or any Disney Park — fountain in bare feet can be extremely dangerous. Walking around in wet, bare feet can become a slip and fall hazard. That’s why Disney does not allow Guests to go in the fountains. Here is Disney’s current policy when it comes to Guest courtesy and attire:

Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. Clothing that drags on the ground is prohibited in theme parks and water parks. Clothing with multiple layers is subject to search. We reserve the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that we consider inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests. Visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate, such as those containing objectionable language or designs, are not permitted. There are specific costume guidelines for special events such as Halloween parties, runDisney events and while at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser; please refer to the additional policies applicable to those events.

If you find yourself at Disney Springs on a warm day, please remember to keep your shoes on. All of the stores and restaurants are air-conditioned and will always welcome Guests who need to cool down. Disney reserves the right to ask any Guest who does not follow their rules and regulations to leave Disney Springs. Guests who continue to refuse to follow the rules may be asked to leave the property entirely.

Disney Told To “Try Harder” When Guest Notices Sloppy Details

Via DisDining.com

When it comes to Disney, the devil has always truly been in the details. Walking through the Parks and looking at all of the intricate designs is part of the fun. Meaningful names can be found on the windows of Main Street, U.S.A., hidden Mickey’s are discovered at almost every turn, and small details — like the Evil Queen opening the window above Snow White’s Enchanted Wish in Disneyland — truly bring the Parks to life. Disney has always been known for not overlooking even the smallest parts of their designs.

However, one Guest recently saw something that made a lot of people think that might be changing.

Twitter user Matt (@ST1402toEndor) was in line for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! at Disney California Adventure Park when he saw something that he thought was unusual. Not long ago, Disneyland Resort introduced the new FastPass system, Disney Genie+. FastPass lanes are now called Lightning Lanes, so the FastPass signage around the Parks has been changed. While the signs are supposed to blend right into the rides, the Guardians of the Galaxy Lightning Lane sign seemed to stick out like a sore thumb.

Disneyland Genie Lightning Lane

Matt took pictures of both the Lightning Lane sign and the Standby Queue sign that had been there. The Lightning Lane sign is clearly a different color, and Matt was unimpressed with Disney’s lack of paying attention to the details.

Many replied to Matt’s tweet saying that they sadly weren’t surprised by what they felt was sloppy work. Johnny (@GrandCalStan) replied that Mission: Breakout! was not the only ride sign to be hastily put together. He had noticed others throughout the Park.

Steevinlove thinks that Disney has gone so downhill that they are beginning to look like a carnival.

While many agreed with Matt, others — like Kylo (@Kettlebellstren) — thought that he shouldn’t be so nit-picky and just enjoy his time at The Happiest Place on Earth.

As of late, some of Disney’s most loyal fans have not been happy with decisions the people at the top — mainly Bob Chapek — have been making. Guests have been claiming that portions are getting smaller, the Parks are being neglected, and Disney is pricing a large number of people out as theme park prices continue to skyrocket. These price hikes and portion cuts come as Disney reported that they have been earning record profits.

Disney Changes Genie+ Purchasing Process

One of the more controversial add-ons to the My Disney Experience app as of late has been the Disney Genie+ addition. Now, a change is coming.

Disney Genie+, the paid aspect of the system, allows Guests to use the Lightning Lane when their return time strikes — which has replaced the previously free FastPass lane. Then both theme park resorts have a la carte options where Guests must pay varying costs per ride, per person to ride the attraction. Disney Genie+ costs $15.00 per person per day for Disney World Guests and $20.00 per person per day at Disneyland. The cost for Disney Genie+ is slightly more expensive at Disneyland, and so are the a la carte options. Rise of the Resistance has hit costs of $20.00 per person per ride, which would essentially double the daily cost of Disney Genie+ if Guests wanted to Lightning Lane the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction, as well as use the paid system for other attractions.

At each Park, however, there are two attractions that Guests would need to purchase a separate Lightning Lane ticket for if they wanted to skip those lines. Those attractions are:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • Expedition Everest

Previously, Guests could pre-purchase Disney Genie+ prior to their theme park day, now some Guests will not be able to. It seems Disney has changed their policy which will affect Guests buying a one-day ticket. Disney Genie+ must be purchased on the My Disney Experience app on the day of their visit. Multi-day tickets can still have Disney Genie+ added on in advance.

It seems that this change is not a major one, but it does mean that Guests looking to utilize the system to its fullest potential will have to be ready to go. We recently also announced the Walt Disney World app had been updated to now include a linking code feature. This means that Guests who travel with a party, whether that be family or friends, can now easily link their accounts to book Disney Genie+, lightning lane, and dining reservations using a simple QR code.

Intoxicated woman leads police on chase aboard her motorized suitcase through Orlando International Airport

If you’re one of the millions of non-Florida residents who visit the Walt Disney World every year and you choose to do so via plane, you’ll always get to Disney by way of Orlando International Airport, also known by its IATA airport code, MCO.

Every year, Orlando International Airport serves an average of 40 million passengers across one main terminal (called the North Terminal; the South Terminal is still under construction), four concourses, and 129 gates. In 2019, a record 50.6 million passengers passed through MCO’s gates. Of those passengers, nearly 7.2 million were traveling internationally, and close to 43.5 million passengers were traveling domestically.

Passengers making their way to the Most Magical Place on Earth account for a large part of MCO’s traffic, and Disney and Orlando International seem to work well together. Recently, in honor of Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, part of the airport was dressed in its Disney and 50th best, giving Guests a taste of the magic from the very moment they disembarked their planes.

But as you might expect, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows (or in this case, pixie dust and fairy tales), even at an airport that plays a role in getting Guests to the vacation of a lifetime. According to WESH Channel 2, video of an incident has just recently surfaced that shows a wild exchange between a young woman and police at the Orlando Airport.

The officer bodycam footage released by the Orlando Police Department depicts an incident that began around 6:3o p.m. local time in April 2021 at the airport. According to an affidavit, officers were called to respond when a passenger became disorderly because she was intoxicated. She had been denied boarding because of her intoxication, which was observable by those around her as she slurred her speech and then began yelling at other passengers and airline representatives around her when she was told she would have to miss her flight.

The affidavit also describes the woman’s behavior as an officer attempted to explain to her why she couldn’t board the aircraft, stating that the young woman responded to the officer by “angrily rolling away, yelling profanities while atop a motorized luggage bag.” In the officer’s bodycam video, the woman can be seen riding away on her suitcase, and the officer even mentions that the suitcase really moves. He then mounts his bicycle and must pursue her on his bike as she “rolls” away.

When the officer caught up with the intoxicated woman, he tried again to reason with her, but she spat on him. The officer remained extremely calm and patient with the woman, as is seen in the bodycam video, but after multiple extended attempts to curb her disorderly behavior, the officer declared, “You’re under arrest.” He placed handcuffs on her, at which time she spat in his eye.

As officers attempted to take the woman into custody, she reportedly kicked and grabbed at them. They were eventually able to get the woman into a police cruiser, where she proceeded to spit, urinate, and defecate.

The 31-year-old woman faces multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct.
