Disney Makes Major Update to Controversial Genie+, Lightning Lane Service

Walt Disney World Resort Guests have been getting used to a brand new system over the course of the last few months.

Disney unveiled Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and Lightning Lane services as its new fast pass system last fall, meaning that Guests could pay an extra $15 per person to book reservations for attractions and use the ‘lightning lane’ instead of waiting in the regular queue.

However, the returns have not been great.

disney genie not working

Many Disney Park Guests have been upset that they haven’t been able to book the attractions they’ve wanted to get reservations and some have noted inflated wait times on rides. Others have reported problems and glitches within the app and on Disney Genie’s opening day at Disneyland Resort, the feature crashed.

However, the latest feature should prove to be one that is both convenient and necessary for groups traveling to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort alike.

Theme Park Reporter Scott Gustin shared on Twitter that the Walt Disney World app had been updated to now include a linking code feature. This means that Guests who travel with a party, whether that be family or friends, can now easily link their accounts to book Disney Genie+, lightning lane, and dining reservations using a simple QR code.

The Walt Disney World app has been updated and now includes a “linking code” feature to make it easier to connect with family and friends. After you open your QR linking code under My Profile, a friend can scan and link your accounts to book Genie+, Lightning Lane, etc.

If you’ve ever attempted to add family or friends in the previous way, you know that the app can be difficult and locations can be spotty at best. This new feature will make connecting a breeze!

Disney Strikes Deal With WWE Amidst Rumors of Buying Wrestling Company

The Walt Disney Company has inked a deal with the WWE for exclusive streaming content.

According to a report by Deadline, Disney and WWE reached a deal for the WWE Network to stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia and this is being seen as a potential prelude for more deals to fall into place in other territories in the future.

The move follows that of the WWE Network, a pioneering direct-to-consumer service, to NBCUniversal’s Peacock in the U.S. last spring. That $1 billion agreement netted the WWE a significant revenue boost and execs have signaled plans to leverage streaming rights around the world. The Indonesia setup kicks off on January 30 with the Royal Rumble from St. Louis.

Walt Disney Company’s Indonesia General Manager Vineet Puri said the company was excited to welcome WWE onto its programming in the territory.

“As home of the best global and local language content, we’re excited to welcome the extensive library of content from WWE Network to the ever expanding slate of Disney+ Hotstar. With this new content on Disney+ Hotstar, we hope to expand our reach and engage even more audiences in Indonesia.”

According to Deadline, WWE President Nick Khan called Disney “the gold standard in creating iconic intellectual property that serves as the backbone for international business growth.” By teaming with Disney+ Hotstar, he added, will enable the WWE to “deliver WWE Network content including WrestleMania on a best-in-class platform to our existing fans in Indonesia while also introducing WWE to new audiences in the region as Disney+ continues to expand its reach internationally.”

While nothing has been confirmed, there have been rumors for a couple of years that Disney might move to buy the sports entertainment giant at some point in the future and these rumors have amplified as WWE Chairman Vince McMahon continues to age and potential competition has emerged in the form of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), which is owned by Tony Khan.

At this point, however, the expectation of what could come from this deal in the future is more international WWE Network markets potentially moving to Disney’s streaming platform, but for now in the U.S. the WWE Network is locked on NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service.

Current stars in the WWE include names like Seth Rollins, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Edge, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, among others.

“Bruno” song from Disney’s “Encanto” sung by the animatronics in a classic Disney Parks attraction

Encanto’s soundtrack is so popular, even the Country Bears know the words!

Love it or hate it, Disney’s newest animated feature, Encanto, continues to get rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, and for all the love shown for the story of Encanto, if we’re honest, it’s the music that’s probably one of our most favorite parts of the film–and we’re in good company, as evidenced by the songs from the film’s soundtrack climbing the charts, including Billboard’s and Spotify’s.

And just last week, Encanto‘s trademark song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” broke a record held since 1994 and 1995, beating out “Let It Go” from Disney’s 2013 blockbuster, Frozen, which had, at one time, climbed to the No. 5 spot on Billboard’s charts. The Bruno ballad reached the No. 4 spot, tying with Sir Elton John’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” from 1994 Disney’s The Lion King and “Colors of the Wind” sung by Vanessa Williams from Disney’s 1995 Pocahontas.

The Singer Who Voiced Pocahontas Remixed "Colors Of The Wind" And It's Amazing

Soundtracks from Disney’s animated films have often climbed the charts, and fans have often been wowed by new songs from the films when they’re released. The popularity of Encanto‘s music, however, seems to have some massive staying power, as some of the songs, like “Surface Pressure” and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” continue to make their rounds on social media–and sometimes with creative twists to them.

One of those “creative twists” popped up on our Twitter feed, and we had to share, as it features the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” performed by the animatronic bears from Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree attraction. Take a look!

Scott Gustin with Nextstar Media calls it “The best thing he’s ever watched.” The Country Bear Jamboree bears do a great job of covering the uber-popular song from the Encanto soundtrack, don’t you think?

Teddi Berra descends from the ceiling on a swing as she “covers” the part of the song sung by Isabela from Encanto–pretty fitting!

isabela encanto and teddi berra country bear jamboree

All the bears from the Country Bear Jamboree play a part in “singing” the popular Bruno ballad–Big Al sings about growing a gut, Henry sings about losing his hair (and of course, it’s a raccoon that’s on his head now), Trixie sings about her fish dying (and has the tissue in her paw so she can catch her tears), and even Melvin, Buff, and Max, the mounted animals on the wall, sing along with the whole Jamboree company.
