ABC News suspends Whoopi Goldberg from “The View” after comments about the Holocaust

ABC News has suspended Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks from The View. The suspension came on Tuesday evening, only hours after Ms. Goldberg apologized for comments she made about the Holocaust.

Earlier this week, during Monday morning’s episode of The View, Goldberg first garnered backlash for comments she made insisting that the Holocaust was “not about race,” but rather about “man’s inhumanity to man.”

Later on Monday, Goldberg appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and attempted to explain the reasoning behind her comments, but her comments on Colbert’s show only made matters worse. On Monday evening, as the backlash and controversy continued to fester, Goldberg issued an apology, saying she had been wrong to make those comments.

“I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused,” Goldberg said in a written statement of apology.

Tuesday morning’s episode of The View included yet another apology from the newly-embattled television personality, who said the following on-air:

“I said something that I feel a responsibility for not leaving unexamined because my words upset so many people, which was never my intention. I understand why now, and for that, I am deeply, deeply grateful because the information I got was really helpful, and it helped me understand some different things. I said the Holocaust wasn’t about race and was instead about man’s inhumanity to man,” Goldberg explained during Tuesday’s episode. “But it is indeed about race because Hitler and the Nazis considered Jews to be an inferior race. Now words matter and mine are no exception. I regret my comments, as I said, and I stand corrected. I also stand with the Jewish people as they know and y’all know, because I’ve always done that.”After her on-air apology, Goldberg conducted an interview with Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, who attempted to explain why Goldberg’s comments were hurtful. Later on Tuesday, Greenblatt said he accepted Goldberg’s apology via Twitter, saying he appreciated the chance to discuss the importance of educating people about the Holocaust.

But Goldberg’s apologies didn’t spare her from disciplinary measures from ABC News. In a statement, Kim Godwin, ABC News President, described Ms. Goldberg’s comments about the Holocaust as “wrong and hurtful.”

“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Godwin said. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities.”Godwin also sent her staff an internal email about Ms. Goldberg’s suspension, saying that “words matter, and we must be cognizant of the impact our words have,” as she explained the decision to take disciplinary measures against the actress and comedian. She further described the difficulty in making such a decision, saying it’s “never easy.”

During the Second World War, six million European Jews lost their lives at the hands of Germany’s Nazi Party, led by Adolf Hitler. At the time, the deaths accounted for nearly 1/3 of the world’s Jewish population. Nazis also murdered five million non-Jews as well, believing those they murdered were inferior, thus rationalizing their heinous acts of torture and genocide. In all, 11 million people lost their lives at the hands of the Nazi regime.

Beloved Disney Attraction Runs Again After Nearly 5 Years

We have good news for fans of the iconic Disney World Railroad!

With so many rides and attractions at Walt Disney World, it’s hard to pick a favorite. From the thrilling Space Mountain, classic Splash Mountain and iconic “it’s a small world” Disney World is truly a magical place filled with fan-favorite attractions.

The Walt Disney World Railroad, one of the most-beloved attractions has been closed for almost five years after shutting down in December of 2018, however, with no confirmed date on its return. Recently, one Guest spotted the Walt Disney World Railroad being tested after this multi-year long hiatus.

See the full post on Twitter from @DisneyfiedAsh below:

While no dates have been revealed yet by Disney on the official reopening of this beloved attraction, with it being tested, we can only hope it’s soon! Many have assumed that the train would be shut down until TRON Lightcycle/Run opened due to construction, however that is not confirmed. If you’re just aching to get your Disney train fix you can always climb aboard Bug Thunder Mountain Railroad, they say it’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!

Disney Park Set To Mysteriously Close 4 Hours Early

For Guests planning a trip to Walt Disney World in the next few months, we recently discovered some sad news about one of the four Parks at the Resort.

Out of all the four Disney World Parks, none are quite like Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Featuring thrilling attractions like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror as well as the new Toy Story land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansions, Holywood Studios is the place to go if you’re looking for intense and exciting rides and attractions.

However, according to the official Walt Disney World calendar, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to mysteriously close several hours early in April. When looking at the calendar, the Park’s hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on April 6th. Usually, Hollywood Studios is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and as of now, it is unknown why the Park will close four hours early on this day.

Besides Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios can also experience the amazing Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, the iconic Star Tours, the hilarious Muppet Vision 3D as well as dine in some fun restaurants like 50’s Prime Time Cafe and The Hollywood Brown Derby. Disney fans are also eagerly anticipating the return of Fantasmic! which is expected to return this year.

Guests Climb Over Railing to Stand in Restricted Area of EPCOT to Smoke

When visiting Walt Disney World Resort, it is always important to remember that they are a private business and can set their own rules and regulations that ask Guests must follow. One of those rules is that smoking is no longer allowed inside the four theme parks — a rule that was enacted in 2019. Guests who wish to smoke must go outside the Park, whether they are at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom. That may be difficult for heavy smokers, but it is a rule nonetheless, and Disney expects Guests to follow it.

However, one Twitter user recently visited EPCOT for the International Festival of the Arts — which is happening through February 21 — and noticed two Guests who decided that they simply did not want to follow Disney’s no-smoking rule. Mardi Gras Mel (@PrincessMel2) took a photo of two Guests who had climbed over a barrier railing and walked down to the edge of the World Showcase Lagoon, so they could light up.

Mel shared the picture on Twitter.

Mel did not share what happened to the two Guests, but you can be sure that, if a Cast Member was informed of what was happening, the Guests were most likely told to move back to the in-bounds area of the Park. It is also possible Disney asked the Guests to leave, as they reserve the right to do that when any Guests does not follow their clearly stated rules.

Here is Disney’s current policy when it comes to those who would like to take a cigarette break while in the Parks:

Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Disney resort hotels are smoke-free environments except for designated smoking areas.

At Disney Resort hotels, smoking is permitted in designated outdoor smoking areas. Smoking is not permitted in guest rooms or on balconies. Guests can request location information at the hotel Front Desk.

If you have questions about our smoking policy or wish to locate the nearest designated smoking area, please visit our Designated Smoking Areas page or ask a Disney Cast Member.

Unfortunately, poor behavior like this is becoming all too frequent at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Fights have been breaking out at places like Magic Kingdom Park and Toy Story Land, Guests have decided to take chairs from seating areas and place them right in the middle of Main Street to sit down before the fireworks, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride was forced to a stop because one Guest refused to wear a face covering.

If you plan on visiting a Disney Park in the near future — or ever — please remember to follow the rules put in place, as it makes a more pleasant experience for you, the other Guests, and the hard-working Cast Members.

Guests Claim Disney Is “Secretly” Adding Charges To Their Bill

Via InsidetheMagic.net

While a trip to “The Most Magical Place on Earth” should be fun, exciting, and magical, sometimes it can be difficult to plan and stressful. Perhaps the biggest complaint people have with Walt Disney World right now is how expensive it can be to visit. From hotels to Park tickets and restaurants, a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort can be quite pricey.

Sometimes, however, Guests’ trips can get even more expensive without them realizing it. It is becoming more apparent that Disney may add a charge to your bill that may not always make sense. A recent Reddit thread highlighted this issue. See the full post from u/ silentsnipe21below:

Heads up for online check-in

I just checked out today and they charged me $15 a day to park. As I took Mears I didn’t have a car. I went to the front desk and they took it off. She said that it’s automatically added if you do online check in and arn’t on magical express. I reminded her that doesn’t exist anymore but she just said “yep”. So read your bills carefully at the end. That was $75 they charged me for nothing.

A swarm of other users shared their same experiences with these “mystery” charges. User u/WirtThePegLeggedBy commented:

“She just said ‘yep’” — That’s the sound of an employee who knows very much about the BS, wishes they had the power to correct the BS, but can only sit at the front desk, helpless, and witness the BS.

User u/SkyYellow_SunBlue said the same thing happened to them:

Just happed to us this morning – $125 to park at Jambo house and we took Mears as well. Asked if there was any way to take care of that in advance and they said only if we add the transport options available through Disney when we do the package.

User u/77thHorcrux also said they had a mysterious charge on their bill:

I have a $529 mystery charge from them. No parking. Paid in full months ago. Magic band charges are all separate.. Haven’t heard back from customer support.

User u/nameisinusetryagain commented:

They sneak stuff like this into the vacation packages too. They won’t give an itemized/ detailed bill.

It is always important to double-check all your bills after a Disney vacation to ensure that you are accurately billed. While unfortunate, this does happen fairly often and Disney will add on charges to your overall bill during your stay. Some at Inside the Magic have encountered this as well, as it seems Disney may sometimes assume that you drove and parked overnight. After speaking with Cast Members, we were quickly able to have this rectified.

Mystery charges aside, many Guests are starting to think that Disneyland and Walt Disney World are too expensive. From the smaller portion sizes to increased prices throughout the Parks, a typical Disney vacation seems to be getting more and more costly. Lots of Guests are simply saying that Disney is starting to “price them out” and that they won’t return in the future. Many have also been heavily critical of the insanely expensive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opening up this March.

The three-night immersive experience will set you back around $5,000, which doesn’t include any drinks or a Park ticket to Hollywood Studios which Guests will be taking trips to throughout their stay so they can experience all of the attractions within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
