Disney World Reveals New 50th Food Offerings!

When Disney kicked off its 50th Anniversary celebration on October 1, there was tons of food and merchandise for Guests to buy and eat as a way to celebrate. The magical food offerings have gone over incredibly well, for the most part, with many Guests finding the enjoyable options limitless. When the initial foodie guide to the 50th Anniversary was released, Disney promised that more food would be coming out as the months went on — spanning the entire anniversary.

Disney has released limited-time offerings since October — like the Grumpy cranberry soft serve — and now, they are slowly revealing more treats that are coming our way in the following weeks! Disney revealed 3 new offerings on their Instagram, but it looks like a total of 9 will be coming to the Parks and has given Guests two voting options before they reveal the next winner.

50th Mickey Head Cinnamon Roll

The first new food Disney has announced comes in honor of one of their ultimate sweet treats — the cinnamon roll. The 50th Anniversary cinnamon roll looks like one larger cinnamon roll and two smaller ones joined together to make a Mickey head in honor of the mouse who started it all. In the center of the cinnamon roll will be a chocolate coin with the 50th emblem. Knowing how incredible Disney’s other cinnamon rolls are, this one is sure to be delicious as well. The new Mickey cinnamon roll will debut at the Main Street Bakery on January 10.

Slue Foot Sue Fish Sandwich

After Disney shared that the Mickey cinnamon roll would be coming to the Main Street Bakery, they asked Guests if they wanted something sweet or something savory. Guests voted and picked savory over sweet 55% to 45%, so Disney has announced that the Slue Foot Sue Fish Sandwich would also be released on January 10. The fish sandwich will only be available at the Golden Oak Outpost in Frontierland. The fish sandwich looks like a beautiful piece of fried fish topped with a cabbage slaw — filling and refreshing.

Always Tea Time Slush

When Disney revealed the Slue Foot Sue Fish Sandwich, they asked Guests to choose from a feather or a picture of a cat, but they did not say what those images meant. People voted for the cat, and now we know that the cat represented Cheshire Café, where Disney will be serving Always Tea Time Slush beginning January 10. The slush is a gorgeous orange color with a light green — possibly matcha — mixed on top. The tea slushed is topped with whipped cream and a white chocolate 10/6 piece — representing everyone’s favorite mad hatter.

Next up, Disney is asking fans to vote between a picture of a slice of cake or an orange — which means that there could possibly be a new Dole Whip flavor coming to Sunshine Terrace, home of the famous Orange Bird. The alternative may be a new dessert offering coming to a place like the Main Street Confectionery. We will have to wait and see what the voters choose!

Disney Water Park Shuts Down 1 Day After Reopening

When the temperatures in Orlando drop below a certain temperature, the desire to go to a water park is no longer as strong as it once was.

Just yesterday, Disney and Guests welcomed back Typhoon Lagoon with open arms as the water park finally reopened after almost two years of closure. For so long, Blizzard Beach has been the only option for Guests who wanted to jet down a water slide, but now, the waves of Typhoon Lagoon are back in action!

For a long while, the water park looked untouched, drained, desolate, and abandoned. There was no work being done, all water was gone, and it was clear that a refurbishment was needed. Luckily, we soon saw scaffolding in place with active work being done. This reassured Guests that Typhoon Lagoon would eventually return! Now, with Blizzard Beach closed for its annual refurbishment, Typhoon Lagoon is the only option available for Guests at the moment.

That being said, with temperatures dipping to 52 degrees today with a high of 64, Typhoon Lagoon will remain closed. Since the water park just reopened yesterday, it is a little unfortunate to see it shut down once again.

When the water park reopened, Disney noted:

The 50th anniversary magic continues at Walt Disney World Resort as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park prepares to reopen Jan. 2, 2022. Offering tropical family fun for all ages, the park’s reopening will mark the return of favorite attractions and the debut of new menu items and other commemorative culinary features.

Known for its immersive storytelling, thrilling water attractions and family fun, the Typhoon Lagoon tells the fabled tale of a rogue storm and its ensuing tidal wave that wreaked havoc on a formerly pristine waterside paradise. From topsy-turvy architecture and storm-strewn nautical gear to the stranded shrimping ship, Miss Tilly, impaled upon the summit of Mount Mayday, each detail brings the legend to life for guests in different ways.

runDisney Gives Sneak Peek of New Merchandise

No matter when you decide to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth, there is most likely some special event happening. Disney always seems to be hosting something — whether it is the incredibly popular Food and Wine Festival or the Festival of the Arts — there is always something happening. And now Disney is having its 50th Anniversary celebration, on top of its normal events, so there is even more!

Disney World 50

Some of the most popular events are Disney Marathon weekends. Every year, Disney hosts several marathon weekends — including the Wine and Dine Half Marathon, the Princess Marathon, and the incredibly beloved Disney World Marathon weekend. The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend draws thousands of people to the Florida theme parks and always happens at the beginning of January.

The 2022 Marathon Weekend is less than two weeks away, and runDisney has given us a sneak peek at some of the amazing merchandise that will be available for sale. During each marathon weekend, Disney hosts a Health and Fitness Expo that begins the day before the marathon starts and will run through the entire weekend. The expo features a ton of great vendors that sell all types of gear for runners, and Disney releases a bunch of great merchandise themed to that weekend. They even have merchandise themed to each individual race.

Let’s take a look at some of the merchandise runDisney has revealed!

First, let’s start with easily the most popular merchandise of the expo — the shirts. Disney does not just release one kind of shirt, they release tee-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, tank tops, and now spirit jerseys! You can also get one specific to the race that you ran.

In addition to all the great shirts, there is other merchandise that will be for sale, like hats, mugs, and keychains.

Remember, this is a look at just some of the merchandise coming to the Marathon Weekend. In the past, Disney has also released things like glasses and special Dooney and Bourke purses for the event. Here are the dates and hours for the 2022 Health & Fitness Expo that will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Disney’s Bob Iger is in his final days with The Walt Disney Company

The former CEO has a huge fan following with many Disney fans missing his great leadership. With his final days in the company, Iger shares his gratitude for what makes him so proud of Disney.

When Bob Iger passed on the Chief Executive Officer reins to Bob Chapek in February 2020, no one knew COVID-19 was lurking in the shadows ready to rock the Disney company (and the world!) with closures. While the new Disney CEO, Bob Chapek stepped in at such a crazy time, his reputation hasn’t been one that could ever be compared to Bob Iger’s.

Even though fans have been recently hoping Iger makes a return to the Walt Disney Company, it’s no surprise that Iger is ready for his years with Disney to come to an end as of December 31, 2021, which he shared during a recent video interview.

Bob Iger

Now, with the New Year upon us, Iger visited Walt Disney World Resort and took to Twitter to express his gratitude toward what makes him so proud of Disney. That’s right, the Cast Members.

@RobertIger tweeted: “Just spent 3 days @WaltDisneyWorld & was reminded (yet again) what makes me so proud of @disney…our Cast Members! Thanks for taking care of me all these years. Thanks for your talent, your commitment & the gratitude you expressed. I am deeply grateful to all of you!”

He’s so right, and it’s so incredible to see Iger focus on thanking the Cast Members as he ends his tenure with The Walt Disney Company.

Big Rat On the Loose in Walt Disney World Had Guests Running

Sometimes it’s not just the character interactions that can make for unique experiences at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

A resurfaced video from a character meet-and-greet with Baloo and King Louie of The Jungle Book (1967) at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort went south when a rather large rat made it’s way straight through the meet-and-greet and had Guests running and dancing to avoid it.

TikTok user @disney_stuffbackup posted the resurfaced video.

As seen in the video, even the characters and Cast Members hilariously had a mini heart attack.
