Disney World is currently celebrating its momentous 50th Anniversary — with new shows, new merchandise, and a ton of great new food being introduced at the Resort. The 50th Anniversary celebration will run for 18 months, wrapping up in March 2023, which means that there is still a ton of time to make your way down to the Sunshine State to experience the magic! Disney wants everyone to be able to visit for the 50th, so they are offering some massive savings for those visiting in the Spring and Summer.

Guests visiting between March 6 through July 7 can save up to $500 on their 5-night stay — depending on which beautiful hotel they choose. Think of all of the amazing food and merchandise you could get to remember your trip with that kind of savings? Here is more information on the incredible deal via the Walt Disney World website:

There’s so much to celebrate when you stay at a Disney Resort hotel—especially during The World’s Most Magical Celebration! There are a couple of important things to remember when deciding to book your magical Disney vacation at one of these great resorts. First, the maximum savings is only valid for “most nights”, according to Disney. This usually means that weekends will be more expensive than weekdays, so the savings may be a little less on those days. It should also be noted that there are only a certain amount of rooms set aside at each resort for the savings, so booking earlier is key if you want to get the savings and hotel you are hoping for.

Power outage at Magic Kingdom leaves some Guests in the dark

Twitter and Instagram were alive last night as users tweeted and posted about a power outage at Magic Kingdom that left many in the dark, even if only temporarily.

Local news station FOX News 35 in Orlando confirmed the outage, saying it was first noticed around 6:00 p.m. All power was completely restored before 10:00 p.m. local time, and doesn’t seem to have affected every area of the theme park. However, according to reports, the outage was seen and felt aboard the Walt Disney World monorail system, on the ferryboats, and at some areas inside the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels.

@DoleWhip71 tweeted this video, saying several of the Magic Kingdom Resorts were without power.

According to a tweet from @dizhiz65, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was affected by the power outage.

“[I] walked up to the reception desk and asked them, ‘Are you guys aware that the ladies’ restroom is out?’ and they said, ‘Oh yeah, there’s a lot of areas that are out right now,” she explained in a video call with FOX News 35.

Bartlett said the loss of power also affected Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. She shared that the areas affected went dark at approximately 6:00 p.m. last night, but that by 10:00 p.m., power was restored, and everything was up and running. When the power did come back on, Bartlett says Guests began to cheer, presumably signaling their relief and their thankfulness for the restoration.

Man Gets Surprised After Proposing in Disney World

There might not be a more special or magical place to propose or get married than at Walt Disney World. The name alone is synonymous with fairy tales and princesses, making it a perfect destination to celebrate true love. This is why we see so many proposals and weddings happen while at the Disney Parks.

While most proposals are pretty standard, typically in front of Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, a recent one will be sure to shock you as much as the future groom was.

A recent post on the r/Unexpected sub-Reddit has gone viral with 111 thousand upvotes. The video shows a Guest proposing to another Guest while at Walt Disney World, but this isn’t your typical Disney World proposal story. See the full video below:

As shown in the video, the man gets down on one knee to propose, only to be left waiting while the woman remains standing. A few more seconds pass and the Woman still hasn’t said or done anything, until she pulls out something from her bag. Eventually, we find out that this is a baby shirt and that she’s pregnant, what a reveal!

Marvel Runs Into Copyright Issue Changes Villain’s Name

One of the most highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movies of 2022 is Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness. Originally slated for a March 25, 2022 theatrical debut, the upcoming Doctor Strange 2 was part of Marvel Studios’ recent rash of film delays.

It is now scheduled for a May 6, 2022 release, but marketing efforts for Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen Strange) and Elizabeth Olsen’s (Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff) next MCU installment are already beginning to ramp up following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The second Spider-Man post credits scene was the first trailer for Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness — it featured a return to the WandaVision post credits scene’s Wundagore Mountain and thrilled Marvel fans.

Now, however, fans have noticed something strange (no pun intended) about a recent merchandise leak. A new LEGO set for the Doctor Strange (2016) sequel seemingly features the Marvel Comics villain known as Shuma-Gorath.

However, in this case, the box art suggests that the tentacled creature will go by the name of Gargantos.

This seemingly pointless name change frustrated some fans on social media, but it seems that there may be a very good explanation that has to do with copyright law. As Twitter user @UpToTASK noted:

After doing some research on ̶G̵a̵r̵g̵a̵n̵t̵o̵s̵/Shuma-Gorath, I get it but I hate it. The name “Shuma-Gorath” was first created by Robert E. Howard for Conan [Conan the Barbarian]. And yea, that’s a WHOLE problem that can be avoided by simply changing the name. UGH that SUCKS. But at least it’s him?

Marvel likely wants to avoid even the suggestion of a copyright battle with Conan creator Howard’s estate, as the works featuring the character and any adjacent characters are not yet in the public domain.

Furthermore, this isn’t the first time Kevin Feige and his team have made a name change to avoid a potential lawsuit. The “Quantum Realm” in Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man) and Evangeline Lilly’s (Hope Pym/the Wasp) Ant-Man films is referred to as the “Microverse” in the Marvel Comics universe.

The word “Microverse”, however, is already copyrighted as part of Hasbro Toys’ “Micronauts” franchise, so the MCU opted to make the name change. Presumably, that is what has happened with the villain now known as Gargantos as well.
