Disney World has new procedures for handling ride breakdowns

Around every corner, you’ll find more surprises, magic, and pixie dust than you what to do with.

But even the most magical of trips to the parks can have their hiccups, especially when it comes to the technical side of the aforementioned magic.

Attractions at Disney World hinge on some of the most advanced, state-of-the-art ride technology, but as anyone will tell you, even the best technology can have its snafus. The same is true at Disney World, regardless of the pixie dust that abounds.

Have you ever been on a ride when it has malfunctioned and stopped? (Hint: if you’ve ever experienced the Haunted Mansion attraction, there’s about an 80% chance you’ve been on a ride when it glitches.) If so, you know that most of the time, the glitches are more of a “pause” on the attraction, rather than a full meltdown, leading to the need for technical engineers to visit and assess the scenario.

But when a ride does stop for an extended time, Disney usually gives Guests the option of staying in the queue for the ride so they can enjoy it once it’s up and running or exiting the queue and returning later to experience the attraction again. If Guests choose to exit, they are guided to a Cast Member who grants them a “recovery pass,” which functions like a FastPass, once the ride is fully functional again. The pass usually says “Anytime Experience” on the My Disney Experience app.

But thanks to Disney’s new Lightning Lane, FastPass is no more, and, it would seem, that the Anytime Experience passes are a thing of the past as well.

Now, according to reports, when a ride malfunctions and Guests have to disembark from the ride, they will still have the option to stay in the queue and wait or exit. But Guests who choose to exit will have an altogether different experience in the parks.

That’s because Disney World is reportedly not offering a recovery pass for Guests who choose to exit and come back. The only recovery passes granted now will be to those Guests who were forced to evacuate the attraction or queue completely. So if there’s not a directive to evacuate completely from a Cast Member, but a Guest chooses to exit and return, he or she will have to wait in the queue as though there had never been an issue.

Some Guests feel like this protocol is another example of inconsistency in procedures on the part of Disney, while others feel it is an example of what they see as Disney’s greed and its apathy toward the very people who are paying to be in the parks in the first place.

10-bed, 10-bath lakefront mansion next door to Disney just became the most expensive house ever sold in Orange County, FL

Vis DisDining.com

If you’ve ever dreamed of living closer to Walt Disney World, there are a million and one ways to do it. There are even realty groups in the Orlando area that cater to those wanting to move in next door to Mickey.

But for whatever reason, the former Miss Florida, Monica Craichy, and her husband KC, decided to move further from the Mouse, leaving to hungry realtors a 16,000 square-foot mansion just begging to be inhabited.

The sprawling 10-bedroom, 10-bathroom spread at 9225 Lake Mabel Drive listed in Orlando by agent and broker/owner of Windermere-based Florida Golf & Beaches, LLC, Karan Wienker, just sold for $12.5 million to an unnamed buyer, represented by Patricia France of Kissimmee-based Happy Days Realty, LLC–the most money to ever switch hands in a single home purchase in Orange County.

We should mention it was a 100% cash transaction as well.

And if it’s true that it’s all about location, location, location, the mansion on Lake Mabel Drive has it all. The nearly 13 acres on which the mansion sits shares a property line with some of Disney’s conservation land.

Lakefront. Check.

Next door to Disney. Check

Only 90 minutes to the nearest beach. Check.

And then you take a look inside . . .

The French Provincial mansion is gorgeous and beyond spacious, but not quite as stuffy and assuming as you might think when you first arrive.

A double bridal staircase greets guests of the mansion and moves their eyes toward the uppermost part of the room, toward the domed rotunda set above them. The Main Room is 25 feet by 23 feet and boasts a fireplace with a mantle inspired by the one found inside Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom.

Belle would adore the two-story library/study that’s warm and invites guests to come in, choose a book and stay for a while.

The bedrooms are lavish and spacious, but inviting and warm.

There are movie theaters (yes, theaters, as in more than one) and a game room, and the pantry off the kitchen is a homemaker’s dream.

There are offices, studies and sitting rooms throughout the home, and the estate even boasts 2 private apartments.

And we haven’t even stepped outside yet.

Once outside, guests are overwhelmed by breathtaking, unencumbered views of Lake Mabel, just past the dock and covered boathouse.

Closer up to the estate itself, there is a full outdoor kitchen, a travertine coped deck, a pool with spillover spa, rose and herb gardens and more.

With 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 3 half-bathrooms, fruit trees, views of Disney World fireworks every night, a four-car garage, 3 fireplaces and an exterior made of hand-hewn limestone spun from silk and brick, what more could you want? You might just forget that Disney World sits right over the horizon to the south!

First trailer drops for new Disney+ ‘Frozen’ series: ‘Olaf Presents!’

Via DisDining.com

Disney’s Frozen is arguably the most popular and most successful animated film of the 21st century, and we think we know why.

If you compare Frozen to its other Disney animated film counterparts, there’s not a massive difference. In fact, the similarities are quite obvious. Each one, for the most part, is one part fairy tale, one part Disney-esque retelling, and one part life lesson. The story of Princess Anna and Queen Elsa doesn’t stray too far from the original recipe.

It does, however, add in a special ingredient that makes the film even more irresistible–and his name is Olaf. Has there ever been a more loving and lovable character? We think not, and apparently, Disney has quite the affinity for the lovable snowman as well because he’s landed his very own Disney+ series, called Olaf Presents.

The series was talked about when Bob Chapek declared November 12 “Disney+ Day” last month. (It is, after all, the anniversary of the platform going live in 2019.)

The new series promises to give us more of the adorable snowman we love as he retells some of Disney’s most beloved stories–and with a flair all his own! Take a look.

We think we like Olaf’s impersonation of Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid the best, so far.

This won’t be Olaf’s first time to retell the story from a Disney feature film. After all, he did a pretty good job of retelling the story of Frozen in Frozen 2.

From the clips in the first trailer for Olaf Presents, we can see that he’s been practicing his take on Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Moana, and we can’t wait to see which other Disney tales get an Olaf makeover!

You can stream Olaf Presents beginning Friday, November 12 on Disney+.

Electrical Water Pageant Celebrates Its 50th Birthday!

On October 1, Walt Disney World kicked off its massive 50th anniversary celebration, which will run for 18 months, wrapping up in March 2023. The celebration will feature new entertainment experiences like Disney Enchantment fireworks at Magic Kingdom and Harmonious at EPCOT, new food offerings, and special merchandise to celebrate the momentous occasion.

A new nighttime spectacular, “Disney Enchantment,” will debut Oct. 1, 2021, at Magic Kingdom Park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Created to launch with the “World’s Most Magical Celebration” the show will take guests on a journey filled with adventure, wonder and empowerment, inspiring guests to believe in magic. “Disney Enchantment” will feature music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks and, for the first time, immersive projection effects that extend from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A. (Disney)

It often feels that changes are constantly coming to Disney Parks, and Guests love to talk about all the old things that they were able to experience at Disney in years past. But as they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same — and that can even apply to a place like Disney. Yes, there are a lot of changes happening at Disney Parks around the world, but Disney does love to keep certain things the same.

One of those things is the Electrical Water Pageant.

The Electrical Water Pageant is an adorable show that takes place each night on Seven Seas Lagoon. Guests staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridan Resort & Spa, and Polynesian, as well as those Guests exiting the Magic Kingdom, can see the show as it makes its way across the water. The Electrical Water Pageant opened with Walt Disney World in 1971 and is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Disney Parks Blog shared more about the fun anniversary of the classic show:

Debuting 50 years ago today as part of “Dedication Day,” this nightly tradition has dazzled guests since the opening of Walt Disney World Resort. Disney Live Entertainment Production Assistant and resident historian, Nathan Eick, shared that the nautical novelty was born when Disney Legend Bob Jani, Vice President of Disney Live Entertainment at the time, fantasized about what he could do with the pitch-black skies of Bay Lake – which had no horizon or city lights due to the sheer size and remoteness of the new property. As a test late one evening, Bob’s team lit up a large mock-up of a whale over the water, a spark that would not only become the Electrical Water Pageant, but go on to inspire “The Main Street Electrical Parade” at Disneyland park less than a year later.

As part of the celebration, Disney has added a new portion of the parade that celebrates 50 years of Walt Disney World magic. A castle outline with a large 50 in the middle has been added to the Electrical Water Pageant and will remain for the entire 50th anniversary.
