Disney Celebrates National Neighbor Day

Disney wants to highlight those who are making a difference in their community. They are also trying to inspire others to think of ways to impact their own city and neighborhood. Here’s what Shelby Grasser shared with Disney Parks Blog:

“The Disney Magic Makers contest was launched to recognize and reward those who are making magic in their communities. In honor of National Neighbor Day on September 28, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products and the neighborhood network, Nextdoor, have teamed up to create an interactive digital map that showcases the inspirational acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity taking place in neighborhoods across the country.

In addition to spotlighting local heroes who have made a positive impact in their neighborhoods, the interactive map provides a deeper look into where and how magic is being made around the country. The data from Nextdoor includes a breakdown of who these magical neighbors are, where they come from, how they’re answering the call to help, and more!

To view the map, visit NeighborhoodMagicMakers.com.

To nominate an inspiring neighbor to become a Disney Magic Maker, visit DisneyMagicMakers.com by Oct. 1, 2021. You can further celebrate your neighborhood heroes by sharing the nomination on Nextdoor using #DisneyMagicMakers. 50 Disney Magic Makers will receive a trip to Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate the “Year’s Most Magical Celebration” and may also receive a one-year subscription to Disney+.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Enter the contest before October 1, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S. & D.C., who are 18 years of age at time of entry. Nominees must be at least 13 years of age at time of nomination. Limit 5 entries per person. See Official Rules and visit www.DisneyMagicMakers.com for full details on how to enter, eligibility requirements, contest entry periods, prize description and limitations. Void where prohibited. Sponsor: Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, Inc., 500 S. Buena Vista Street, Burbank, CA 91521.”

Girl touches Gaston inappropriately, viral video shows him demanding that she leave

Via DisDining.com

One great thing about the Disney World magic is meeting the characters.

It’s probably one of the things we missed the most when the parks reopened after being closed for several months in response to the pandemic.

And one of the most fun characters to hang out with is Gaston.

Yes, the Cast Members who are hired to play the role of Gaston in the parks have quite the knack for impersonating the overbearing, self-centered brute. After all, Gaston is short on manners, but he’s never at a loss when it comes to self-love. In fact, many times, he’s just plain rude.

But in a video that has surfaced on social media, it’s the Guest who’s extremely rude and overbearing, to the point she completely disrespects the Cast Member playing Gaston by inappropriately putting her hands on his chest. (Thank you to Evan Snead for the video and still shots captured from the video.)

The Cast Member immediately tells her to leave, and she quickly tries to touch him again.

The Guest continues to disrespect the Cast Member by disregarding his instructions and staying where she is. She even seems to act as though she doesn’t understand what Gaston is saying to her or why.

He stands his ground, however, and she is visibly embarrassed and must face the walk of shame, knowing she’s been brushed off by a Disney character because of her less than appropriate behavior toward him.

The video is not an extremely recent one, but it has surfaced as fans are seeing it and sharing it. A few are poking fun at the scenario, but many are using it as a means of illustrating really poor Guest behavior in the parks.

We all like to meet the characters, and no matter how old you are, it’s fun to play along with the character’s persona, but this never gives Guests the right to be disrespectful or inappropriate with Cast Members in any way.

Virtual Queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Begins Oct. 1

When we say “bonjour!” to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure on Oct. 1, in order to experience the attraction, Guests will be required to join the virtual queue. Here’s how our Guests will use the virtual queue to experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure:

  • Guests with a valid ticket or pass and theme park reservation who will start their day at EPCOT can access the virtual queue system via the My Disney Experience app and check for an available boarding group starting at 7 a.m. on the day of their park reservation. This can be done before Guests arrive at the theme park.
  • If Guests are unable to join the morning virtual queue opportunity, they may check for an available boarding group starting at 1 p.m. after they have entered the park. Keep in mind, Guests must be at EPCOT to access this second virtual queue opportunity, and access to a boarding group is subject to availability and not guaranteed.

Tips for getting into the virtual queue

By the day prior to their visit, Guests should make sure to have done the following:

  • Have an account in My Disney Experience
  • Download the My Disney Experience mobile app on their smart device or ensure they have the most updated version of the app before arriving at the park
  • Link their tickets to their My Disney Experience account
  • Have a valid Disney Park Pass reservation for EPCOT for the day

Virtual queue is only accessible via the My Disney Experience mobile app.

Please keep in mind, only one Guest per traveling party should attempt to enroll in virtual queue. Multiple Guests and devices attempting to enroll the same party could complicate securing a boarding group. As a reminder, in order to be eligible for the 1 p.m. virtual queue enrollment, all Guests in a party must already be inside EPCOT.

Guests who need additional help joining the virtual queue for the 1 p.m. enrollment time should seek out a Guest Relations or Guest Experience Team Cast Member at EPCOT.
