Disney Fab 50 Character Collection Revealed, First Sculptures Unveiled at Magic Kingdom Park

We’re excited to announce that the first Disney Fab 50 Character Collection sculptures are in their place to share in the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration. Guests can now visit the Magic Kingdom and find some of their favorite characters in their new home for the next 18 months of the celebration.

These 50 characters represent the stories that have moved us to dream bigger, follow our passions and believe in the power of magic. Each character shares in Walt Disney World Resort’s legacy of hope and optimism, where “two tiny wings” become a source of imagination, where sidekicks become heroes and where unlikely duos become the best of friends.

Over the past two months, partners have gathered from across The Walt Disney Company to unveil these fan-favorite characters. Friends from Disney+, Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Lucasfilm, Disney Channel, ESPN, shopDisney, Disney Vacation Club, Disney Publishing, D23, Disney Movie Insiders, National Geographic, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line and more have shared in the celebration by announcing these sculptures.

Our “Disney Fab 50” sculptures pay homage to the past 50 years of Walt Disney World while ushering us into the next 50 years and beyond. As Guests continue to pass through our gates to hunt for their favorite characters, these sculptures will further immerse them into a world of fantasy and tomorrow, where laughter, joy, and that intangible pixie dust will bring a lifetime of memories to all who visit The Most Magical Place on Earth.

Enjoy this special message from the storytellers, entertainers, leaders and cast members who have lent their voices, talent and individual spark of magic to bring these characters to life.

Walt Disney World Buses and Skyliner Sport New 50th Anniversary Wraps

The “World’s Most Magical Celebration” is just around the corner and now even Walt Disney World transportation is getting in on the fun. New 50th Anniversary wraps have been spotted on both buses and the Disney Skyliner.

Miguel from ‘Coco’ Announced for the Disney Fab 50

Miguel from “Coco” was announced as a Disney Fab 50 character for the statue collection. The announcement was made by Miguel’s voice actor, Anthony Gonzalez.

Miguel will be found at EPCOT.

The Disney Fab 50 character statues are part of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World this October 1 and will be found across all four theme parks. The celebrations will last for 18 months.

Imagineer Reveals Mickey Mouse Mural in Creations Shop

Walt Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley has revealed a new Mickey Mouse mural inside Creations Shop at EPCOT.

This hand-painted work of art is over 35 feet long and is titled “Mouse in Motion.”

EPCOT has a wealth of original art and artifacts installed through the park that tells OUR story – of history and wonder and curiosity. Since the beginning, murals like the ones we see at Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, and all throughout World Showcase have been an important piece of EPCOT. Continuing this legacy of original art pieces, our team leading this transformation has found ways to represent both the creativity of the artists and the inspiration they bring to all who come to this place.

This was a driving idea behind Creations Shop – a place dedicated to creative inspiration and commemoration that comes from the wonderful souvenirs we collect to mark our experiences. Today, I am excited to reveal – for the first time – one of these original art pieces installed in Creations Shop, featuring our muse for creativity, Mickey Mouse.

Like all original pieces of art – this one has a title: Mouse in Motion!

This mural is hand-painted, and as you move closer, you can see the brushstrokes and movement directly from the artist’s hands. And this mural is large – spanning over 35 feet. It is placed on the south end of our shop, in a position that you can admire from all corners of this new space.

The composition features Mickey Mouse in dynamic poses through a prism of colors. From left to right, Mickey is in a moment of movement and energy, recalling graphic inspiration drawn from print, media, and even street art. We were inspired by our legacy – leveraging hand-drawn linework and the look of Mickey Mouse from the time when Walt Disney World and EPCOT were first being dreamed up by Walt Disney and his early Imagineers. In the left portion of the composition, Mickey is proudly carrying a pennant emblazed with the EPCOT logo, one of many nods to our past captured through our design.

This bold statement inspires us, now and into the future. It’s present tense. Like Mickey, we keep moving optimistically towards a future of our making.
