With help from artist Jerrod Maruyama, Disney has officially confirmed that Minnie Mouse will have a gold statue as part of the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection at Walt Disney World.
Of course, Minnie was seen in the original concept art for the gold statues, but we got a closer look at her statue in the new social media video.
The newest Eternal trailer has thrilled Marvel fans and brought a look at the immortal super-team and the movie’s story like we have never seen before.
It isn’t just the fans that are excited, but the Green Goliath, Mark Ruffalo, as well. “Someone worse than Thanos?!” Ruffalo captioned his retweet of the Eternals trailer, along with a thinking emoji. “Fighting evil never ends.” Spoken like a true Avengers veteran.
Ruffalo refers to the Deviants as being worse than Thanos, but actually, the Mad Titan is a Deviant himself in the comics. It’s unclear if this connection will be referenced in the MCU, however. Still, this trailer makes clear that Eternals won’t be shying away from its connections to the wider franchise, including revealing our first look at the Celestials in the movie.
The Scarlett Johansson (AKA “Black Widow”) and Disney dispute continues. If you need to be caught up, Johansson recently announced she is suing Disney for the release of Black Widow on Disney+ which she says was not part of their original film contract. Even though the COVID 19 pandemic hit the actress wanted an exclusive theatrical release. Disney responded with disappointment. Disney’s upcoming “Tower of Terror” film is currently on hold as Disney has reportedly cut all ties with Johansson. With all of the Johansson news highlights, she was privately keeping hidden that she was pregnant and as of a few days ago celebrated the arrival of a baby boy! In other words – there has been a LOT going on! Now, Disney is asking for private arbitration. It sounds like Johansson’s lawyer is not happy about it.
On Friday night (August 20), the Walt Disney Company filed to move the Black Widow and Scarlett Johannson lawsuit out of the public court and behind closed doors with a confidential arbitration. As reported by Entertainment Weekly: “In the filing, Disney took aim at Periwinkle Entertainment, the company through which Johansson negotiated her contract and the official plaintiff in the case. Disney’s motion argues that Periwinkle agreed to resolve all disputes “‘arising out of, in connection with, or relating to’ Scarlett Johansson’s acting services for Black Widow” through arbitration, and accuses Johansson of legal chicanery to attempt to take the dispute to court.”
The actress’s lawyer, John Berlinski, responded: “After initially responding to this litigation with a misogynistic attack against Scarlett Johansson, Disney is now, predictably, trying to hide its misconduct in a confidential arbitration,” said Berlinski. “Why is Disney so afraid of litigating this case in public? Because it knows that Marvel’s promises to give Black Widow a typical theatrical release ‘like its other films’ had everything to do with guaranteeing that Disney wouldn’t cannibalize box office receipts in order to boost Disney+ subscriptions. Yet that is exactly what happened — and we look forward to presenting the overwhelming evidence that proves it.”
The Marvel movie recently became the highest-grossing film at the domestic box office since COVID-19 began, with $179.3 million. In its motion on Friday, Disney revealed a rare Disney Plus disclosure that Black Widow had also grossed “more than $125 million in streaming and download retail receipts.”
We’re cooking up new experiences at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration!”
Located just off the lobby, Steakhouse 71 will be a new casual themed dining concept that gets its name from the resort’s opening year and will be open in time for the celebration.
Upstairs at California Grill, a new dining experience will also be available later this year, featuring a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history.
While these experiences are not yet available for reservations, we look forward to sharing more information soon.
This week has been FULL of Walt Disney World Resort news! Earlier this week we learned about the new Disney Genie and paid “Fastpass” program coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Today, Disney has been sharing loads of Disney food news including the reopening of Boma – Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (the first Disney buffet to open since the pandemic), the return of two more buffets at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, an announcement about a new restaurant coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and even new breakfast options arriving soon. Now the theme Park is sharing one of the most exciting pieces of news from today by revealing details about the new Magic Kingdom fireworks and nighttime spectacular called “Disney Enchantment”.
Disney has revealed new details about the previously announced “Disney Enchantment“! Soon enough we will be saying goodbye to “Happily Ever After”, as Magic Kingdom’s newest nighttime spectacular “Disney Enchantment” takes center stage above Cinderalla Castle and throughout Main Street, U.S.A. Check out the latest details below as shared by Disney.
“This all-new spectacular inspires everyone to believe in magic, with captivating Disney music, enhanced lighting, immersive projection effects that extend for the first time down Main Street, U.S.A., and an emotional original song, entitled “You Are the Magic”.
“In “Disney Enchantment,” we join dreamers like Tiana, Miguel, Rapunzel, and brothers Ian & Barley from “Onward,” and we set out on an incredible journey with adventurers such as Moana, Raya, and Judy Hopps. Joe Gardner from Disney and Pixar’s “Soul” takes us into “the zone,” where we discover a whimsical world inspired by the style of legendary Disney artist Mary Blair and filled with beloved characters from classic stories like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Alice in Wonderland” to contemporary tales including “Luca” and “Wreck-It Ralph.” Everything builds to a climactic moment, as Tinker Bell takes flight, spreading shimmering gold pixie dust and empowering us all to believe in ourselves and the magic all around us.”
We’re loving the lineup of Disney films involved! It seems like Disney has kept several classics but will really be integrating some of the newer Disney films as well. And yes, it sounds like Tinker Bell will continue to fly through the sky!
Having fireworks back at Magic Kingdom has been fantastic, but “Disney Enchantment” isn’t the only nighttime spectacular we are looking forward to. Another Disney Park is preparing for the big debut of “Harmonious”. That’s right – EPCOT is saying goodbye to EPCOT Forever and preparing for their new nighttime spectacular to light up the World Showcase lagoon. Harmonious is scheduled to debut on October 1.
