Though Disney+ subscriber growth reportedly stalled this year, it has now reached 116 million subscribers, surpassing the expected 113 million.
Disney+ continues to grow with original shows, including those set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and film releases. Although, Scarlett Johansson is currently suing Disney regarding the Disney+ release of “Black Widow.”
One of the Marvel original series, “Loki,” was one of the most-streamed programs across all platforms during Q3.
The third quarter of the fiscal year has closed, and Disney has released their Q3 2021 results. In the earnings call this afternoon, the company announced a $17.02 billion revenue, higher than the expected revenue of $16.76 billion.
Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products reported revenue of $4.3 billion, an increase of 100% versus Q3 2020 and $1 billion more than last quarter.
Domestic parks posted a profit of $2 million, marking the first quarter with a profit since the pandemic began in March 2020. Meanwhile, international parks had a loss of $210 million.
Disney Parks worldwide were all open during Q3, and domestic parks increased capacity, leading to higher attendance and guest spending.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Fred will likely impact Central Florida this week.
The storm is currently heading towards the Dominican Republic and is not expected to develop into a hurricane. Central Florida is to the edge of the cone of uncertainty, which predicts anywhere that the eye of the storm may fall. Wind and heavy rain will be hitting the area regardless of the location of the storm’s center.
Tropical storm winds are expected this Saturday into the rest of the weekend as the storm makes its way up Florida.
No operational changes have been announced at Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort.
