First Look Inside “Incredibles” Themed Rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Exciting news coming out of Disney today! Disney is giving us a first look at the new reimagined guest rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. What makes the reimagining extra exciting is yes, the rooms are themed after the Incredibles! The retro-modern aesthetic evoking Tomorrowland with a dash of Incredibles is now unveiled.

As shared by Disney: “Currently all nine floors of guest rooms in the tower are being completely refurbished, and here’s a first look at the new décor debuting this fall. As you can see, these rooms will blend a sleek Monorail motif with some favorite characters from Pixar Animation Studios’ Incredibles films, including Jack-Jack, Frozone and Edna Mode. New custom artwork in guest rooms and along guest corridors will be modern, futuristic and oh so stylish, dahling, complementing the resort’s architecture while putting the Supers’ powers on display.”

Disney goes on to share, “In the lobby, you’ll soon see a collection of modern art pieces as well as historical, behind-the-scenes photographs of Disney’s Contemporary Resort in development and under construction. The resort’s lobby restaurant, The Wave… of American Flavors, will also soon close to make way for a reimagined dining experience in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration. And once the tower guest rooms are complete, work will begin on the rooms inside the Garden Wing out on the shore of Bay Lake.”

Disney says they will have more to share on this project in the months to come as they continue to get ready for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” beginning Oct. 1.

New Trailer for Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings

Marvel’s newest hero is coming face to face with his past.

Disney shared the new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on Thursday, dropping a new look at Simu Liu’s warrior during ESPN’s NBA Countdown. Liu stars as the titular hero, who trained to become a martial arts master under the watchful eye of his father Wenwu (Tony Leung). He’s since rejected his father’s villainous ways and tried to forge a new life in San Francisco, making friends like Awkwafina’s Katy. Before long, however, he finds himself drawn back into the past he’s tried so hard to outrun.

“The most exciting thing about stepping into this character was that his backstory has never been told before,” Liu previously told EW. “We know so many different versions of Batman’s origin story, how his parents were murdered when he was very young. We know Peter Parker, who was bitten by a radioactive spider, and he loses his uncle. Shang-Chi’s story is very much unknown to most of the world, so we had a lot of freedom and creative liberty to make it the way that we wanted to.”

The new trailer also teases a first look at the Ten Rings themselves. Marvel fans have heard that name before: The Ten Rings were the notorious terrorist organization that organized Tony Stark’s kidnapping all the way back in the first Iron Man. The new Shang-Chi trailer introduces the actual objects behind the name, which grant their wearer unimaginable power.

Short Term 12’s Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film, which also stars Michelle Yeoh and Ronny Chieng. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit theaters Sept. 3.

Imagineer Zach Riddley Gives Closer Look at New World Celebration Pavement

We’ve been tracking the ongoing pavement replacement across EPCOT, and now, Imagineer Zach Riddley has given a closer look at the pavement and selection process.

“Continuing to look at the inspiration and design details of EPCOT, today I’m sharing a story about paving. It’s a surface you don’t often pay direct attention to, but the color and texture of the ground under your feet are a primary surface for storytelling. Cobblestones, brick, curbing, scored concrete, patterned terrazzo (like the new flooring coming to Club Cool and Creations Shop that I’ve shared previously) all work to immerse you in a believable place,” said Riddley in an Instagram post.

Pavement may seem like a trivial detail to garner such precise decision making, but that attention to the smallest details is how Imagineers take theming to the next level. Minute elements can register unconsciously, creating a more “believable” experience.

Riddley’s team has been using color to tie World Celebration together. Like the new color palette for the façade of the Creations Shop, warm grays were chosen to emulate Spaceship Earth. Riddley shared photos of a number of samples the team used to select the perfect tone, reflectivity, and color.
