Disney’s Animal Kingdom Gorillas Go Viral After Snake Enters Yard

Via DisDining.com

While many guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom rush off to ride Avatar Flight of Passage or take on the Yeti with Expedition Everest, there is one especially favorite place of ours that is often overlooked. If you haven’t before, you’ll want to take time to check out Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail located in the Africa portion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Well, now the gorilla residents of Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail are going viral… as a snake entered their yard.

In the first video, TikTok user Bearded Kraken (@silkystrokesurvivor) captures “Gorilla vs. Snake”, as the snake is first discovered by the gorillas. The video has gone viral with 10.5 million views:

The gorillas aren’t exactly sure what to do! In the second video @silkystrokesurvivor captures “Gorilla VS Snake Part 2!” which now has almost 780,000 views:

While we aren’t exactly sure what ended up happening to the snake, it was interesting watching the whole gorilla troop curiously check out the snake. And if you want to see that chest beat one more time, @silkystrokesurvivor put out a third TikTok video, “Chest Beat Alert!” which has almost 600,000 views:

The troop of western lowland gorillas are some of our favorite to watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! They seem like gentle giants and watching them inspect something like a snake entering their enclosure is interesting to see.

Disney Cruise Line Postpones First Test Cruise

The big blue has been extremely quiet since COVID took the cruise industry by hold. Cruise ships haven’t been able to invite guests to cruise since last spring. Recently, Disney Cruise Line announced they would be sailing the big blue once again with a test cruise to see how their COVID-19 procedures were handled. Unfortunately, the test cruise (which was scheduled to depart tomorrow) has been postponed.

As reported by ClickOrlando: “Disney Cruise Lines has postponed its first test cruise, which was scheduled to set sail Tuesday out of Port Canaveral, as the company was set to begin testing its coronavirus precautions, officials said. According to the Canaveral Port Authority, the Disney simulated cruise out of Cruise Terminal 8 has been postponed and no future date has been determined.”

A Disney spokesperson shared the following statement: “We are delaying our simulation cruise due to a small number of inconsistent COVID-19 test results, which are considered positive by the CDC. The rigorous health and safety protocols we have in place helped us identify the situation, though the test results were ultimately negative.”

It sounds like the COVID testing inconsistency has brought this test sailing to a halt. Apparently Disney tested their Cast Members on the Disney Dream last week and found that five out of the 600 Cast Members tested positive for COVID-19. The five positive cases were all asymptomatic and previously vaccinated. A retest the next day, using the same lab, tested negative. So, one day positive and another day negative… it’s hard to know what is best in that situation.

Disney Announces Opening Date of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s refurbishment is almost complete. The resort has been closed since March 2020 and is being reimagined. Disney has announced the reopening date.

Here is the statement from Disney:

We’re happy to share that we are accepting bookings for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort beginning July 19. As part of the reopening, Guests will return to an enhanced entrance with a new porte cochere showcasing the iconic mid-20thcentury architecture the Polynesian is famous for.

As the resort reopens, the temporary front desk area at Pago Pago will close, and front desk and concierge services will move back to the Great Ceremonial House. Disney’s Magical Express and valet will be available under the new porte cochere.
