“Jungle Cruise,” Coming to Disney+ Premier Access and Theaters on July 30th

Fans patiently waiting for the new Jungle Cruise movie will now be able to take the journey at home, as star Dwayne Johnson announced the film will be available on Disney+ Premier Access beginning July 30th, the same day it docks in theaters.

Johnson made the announcement ahead of Disney’s second quarter earnings call.

As the world slowly recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney has made Premier Access available on several of its upcoming films for Disney+ subscribers not yet ready to head back to movie theaters. The one-time fee allows subscribers to view the movie at the same time it’s in theaters for several months before it becomes available for all Disney+ subscribers. Jungle Cruise is just the latest to join the lineup, with Premier Access already announced for Cruella and Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, both releasing later this summer.

Walt Disney World Guest Service Account Returns to Twitter

Walt Disney World guests now have another way to help get assistance with issues at the resort, as the Walt Disney World Guest Service account has returned to Twitter.

The account, which can be found at @WDWGuestService, has begun responding to guests again for the first time since March 12th, 2020, the same day the resort announced it would temporarily close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When resort hotels reopened beginning in June of that year, a virtual chat with guest services was offered through the My Disney Experience app. Currently, the account has been asking guests to explain their issues via direct message, with only one tweet on their main account (as of the writing of this article) directing guests to @WaltDisneyWorld for official updates.

Follow @WaltDisneyWorld for official updates on all Walt Disney World Resort news! You may also pick up a Times Guide or check My Disney Experience online for Theme Park hours, showtimes and more: https://t.co/crAf6MqLwj pic.twitter.com/kdsUYz6hpw— Walt Disney World Guest Service (@WDWGuestService) May 13, 2021

Still, this should help guests resolve any questions or concerns they may have without having to wait in line at Guest Services in any of the theme parks, though the option remains available.

Walt Disney World to Host Vaccination Event for Friends and Family of Cast Members

Walt Disney World will be hosting a vaccination event for friends and family of Cast Members on May 22 and May 23.

Cast Members have been able to get their COVID-19 vaccine shots at the Walt Disney World Health Services facility for over a month now. On May 22 and 23, Cast Members may bring up to 5 family and friends to receive their vaccination. Both the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available, and Pfizer will be available for those aged 12 and up. Walk-ups are welcome. Each adult getting their vaccine will need to bring an ID, and the Cast Member will need to bring their company ID.

Walt Disney World Health Services is located on Backstage Lane on resort property.

Earlier this week, Mayor Jerry Demings announced that nearly 50% of Orange County residents age 16 and older have been vaccinated. At the 50% threshold, the county’s mask mandate will be lifted for outdoors. When 70% of the eligible population have been vaccinated and/or Orange County’s 14-day rolling positivity rate is 5% or lower, the mask mandate will be lifted entirely. That being said, Walt Disney World may continue to impose its own mask guidelines.

CDC Says Masks or Physically Distancing No Longer Necessary for Fully Vaccinated Individuals

As the numbers of individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 continue to rise in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (better known as the CDC) has issued new guidance that radically changes the policies we’ve seen in the last year.

In a briefing Thursday afternoon, the CDC confirmed that face masks and physical distancing are largely no longer necessary for those who are fully vaccinated, perhaps the largest step towards normalcy since the pandemic began. There are exceptions to this new guidance: masks are still required for those using public transit, like buses, trains and airplanes. And, of course, local and state governments as well as private businesses are allowed to set their own requirements.

From the CDC website:

If you’ve been fully vaccinated:

  • You can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.
  • You can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
  • If you travel in the United States, you do not need to get tested before or after travel or self-quarantine after travel.
  • You need to pay close attention to the situation at your international destination before traveling outside the United States.
    • You do NOT need to get tested before leaving the United States unless your destination requires it.
    • You still need to show a negative test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding an international flight to the United States.
    • You should still get tested 3-5 days after international travel.
    • You do NOT need to self-quarantine after arriving in the United States.
  • If you’ve been around someone who has COVID-19, you do not need to stay away from others or get tested unless you have symptoms.
    • However, if you live or work in a correctional or detention facility or a homeless shelter and are around someone who has COVID-19, you should still get tested, even if you don’t have symptoms.

For now, if you’ve been fully vaccinated:

  • You will still need to follow guidance at your workplace and local businesses.
  • If you travel, you should still take steps to protect yourself and others. You will still be required to wear a mask on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States, and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations. Fully vaccinated international travelers arriving in the United States are still required to get tested within 3 days of their flight (or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months) and should still get tested 3-5 days after their trip.
  • You should still watch out for symptoms of COVID-19, especially if you’ve been around someone who is sick. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested and stay home and away from others.
  • People who have a condition or are taking medications that weaken the immune system, should talk to their healthcare provider to discuss their activities. They may need to keep taking all precautions to prevent COVID-19.

“EPCOT Forever” Fireworks Show May Return Soon Before Harmonious Debuts

According to guests in the EPCOT area resort hotels, the park could be heard testing the short-lived, interim fireworks spectacular “EPCOT Forever” overnight. With Harmonious not ready to perform until later this year (at the earliest), the temporary show could return, albeit altered, to perform on World Showcase Lagoon.

“EPCOT Forever” debuted in October 2019 with the end of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. It was meant to run all the way up until the debut of Harmonious, but then the park closed due to the pandemic. Obviously, when the park returned, fireworks shows were no longer in operation at Walt Disney World in order to keep people distanced. Now, with restrictions starting to be reduced, it may be time for nighttime entertainment to return to the theme parks.

If “EPCOT Forever” does return, it is expected that it will be without the kites due to all of the barges now littering the lagoon for Harmonious. The kites were on the chopping block before the pandemic began anyway, as sources had indicated multiple times that they may be cut due to their constant issues, or just to save money.

Disney has made no announcement as to when they expect nighttime shows to return and it has not been confirmed that “EPCOT Forever” is returning just yet. An announcement could come as early as this week’s quarterly earnings call for The Walt Disney Company though.
