A new film detailing the life and achievements of Jim Henson is in the works.

Deadline is reporting that the film is being written by Michael Mitnick. There aren’t many details available yet, but the plot is expected to revolve around Henson and his effort to get his Muppets on television.

Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson is the current CEO of The Jim Henson Company and will be producing the film. She is currently in production on Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Pinocchio for Netflix.

This biopic is being produced for both Disney and The Jim Henson Company. Disney has owned the rights to the Muppets characters since 2004. Reportedly discussions with The Henson Company about a biopic began in 2010, but there’s been no update since then. The new Disney+ series Muppets Now  was released last year, but a Muppets film hasn’t been released since Muppets Most Wanted in 2014.

MuppetVision 3D has been a staple of Disney’s Hollywood Studios since debuting in 1991. From 2016 to 2019, the Muppets were a staple in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom® Theme Park as part of the show “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History”. Jim Henson’s Dinosaurs TV series was recently released on Disney+.

Filming Has Yet To Happen for EPCOT’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Attraction

We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the arrival of EPCOT’s newest coaster attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Initially, the expected opening date for this attraction was to be in 2021… in time to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, construction is still in the works and it’s looking like we can expect the attraction to open in 2022. Further confirmation that the attraction is in early to mid stages of development came from a tweet posted by Guardians of the Galaxy Director, James Gunn.

Much like many of Disney’s attractions, filming is key in the storytelling of the attraction. Take Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance for example, and the filming involved in that attraction. Well, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is expected to tell a story as well, and the filming has yet to happen. As reported by ComicBook.com: “Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn shared some insight about these upcoming projects and confirmed he will be directing the footage produced for these new rides while talking on social media. The EPCOT ride themed around the Guardians of the Galaxy characters, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, is still under construction and is expected to open on an undisclosed date in 2022.”

We’re all so ready for this attraction to be complete that yes, it’s extremely hard to wait! We can’t wait to hear the filming is complete instead of “on the agenda”. In the meantime, we’re continuing to look forward to Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary on October 1, 2021 which will be celebrated over an 18-month time frame.

Out-of-state travelers craving California may soon be in luck. A series of policy changes indicate that California may soon allow out-of-state guests who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to visit Southern California’s many theme parks.

As noted by Twitter user Leslie Harvey, California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy was updated without fanfare on April 19th.

An addendum to the document states that “fully vaccinated persons from out-of-state may visit or attend activities or events that are restricted to in-state visitors.” At this time, both Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood fall within the Tier 3/Moderate category, allowing in-state guests to visit theme parks.
