It’s been a day full of announcements! Disney announced Avenger Campus will open on June 4, and updates have been provided on each Disney Parks regarding current construction and entertainment progress. We can’t help but focus in on Walt Disney World Resort where Disney Chairman has announced two highly anticipated EPCOT experiences are “coming soon”.
As shared by Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: “As we previously announced, Walt Disney World Resort will kick off our 50th anniversary on Oct. 1, 2021. As part of our multiyear transformation of EPCOT, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will also debut on that day, while work continues on Harmonious and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – just a few of the incredible experiences coming soon.“
While yes, it’s not the dates we have been hoping for… “coming soon” is more information than we have been receiving. Which one are you most excited about experiencing? We simply can’t wait for nighttime entertainment to return… so Harmonious is on the forefront of our minds. But, we have a feeling Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be absolutely incredible.

On top of the announcement of the grand opening, Disney has also unveiled the first look inside Avengers Campus!
The first key area is the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB. It brings together bright innovators like Peter Parker who have been assembled by Tony Stark to invent new technologies and equip everyday people to become Super Heroes like the Avengers. WEB will house the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature the iconic friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
Along with WEB Slingers, guests will still have a chance to enjoy the second anchor attraction in Avengers Campus – Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!. Although this attraction opened in 2017, it continues to be a fan-favorite and officially has a home in Avengers Campus, right where it belongs!
All heroes need to power up with delicious food! Pym Test Kitchen is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive entrees and sweet treats. Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage tastings are available at Pym Tasting Lab. You can also visit one of the Avengers favorite food joints at Shawarma Palace, Taneleer Tivan, or Terran Treats.
Want to experience the Avengers in action? Throughout Avengers Campus you can expect to experience Avengers in exciting ways including encounters with Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Black Widow, Ant-Man and The Wasp, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and even villains like Loki, some of whom are making their first appearances at the park. You may even have the chance to witness Spider-Man swinging into action high above Avengers Campus.
At a nearby ancient sanctum, Doctor Strange will train recruits in the mystic arts by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy.

Sports and events at ESPN Wide World of Sports complex at Walt Disney World Resort seem to be making a comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic. Today it was reported that a different kind of league will be holding their finals at the complex this summer. The 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee Finals will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports on July 8, 2021.
Broadcasting live on ESPN2, 10-12 spellers from across the country will be competing for the title. Due to the ongoing pandemic, precautions will be in place, including limiting the competition to no more than 12 spellers.
The complex is no stranger to events. Last summer the NBA resumed their 2019-2020 season at the complex.
According to Orlando Business Journal, The Walt Disney Company and Tavistock Development Co. LLC are in talks to build a residential and commercial community in Lake Nona, Florida. The deal is still in early stages so may not come to fruition.
Tavistock is currently preparing to develop 4,192 residential units and 2.4 million square feet of non-residential space in the Lake Nona community, which may be the location for this Disney community.
Of course, this would not be Disney’s first community in the Orlando area. Disney developed Celebration, Florida near Walt Disney World, and Golden Oak within Walt Disney World property. Flamingo Crossings Town Center is currently under construction and opening in phases. A Lake Nona community would be the furthest away from Walt Disney World, at approximately 18 miles.
