Morgan Lee Richardson, a former Walt Disney Imagineer, shared a look at some details of a new event space at Disney California Adventure that had recently opened to guests.
Richardson was the art director on the project and sculpted the new rockwork. The event space also includes a wooden door with the acronym “BVW.” Can you guess what that stands for? We’re guessing Buena Vista Winery.
The event space is adjacent to Buena Vista Street and is currently hosting snack carts.
In January, Adventures by Disney announced new Expedition Cruises to Antarctica and the Galapagos Islands departing in 2022. Due to popular demand, Adventures by Disney has added a third Antarctica sailing departing February 20, 2022.
Here is the official description of the Antarctica/Patagonia Expedition Cruises:
“Prepare for the adventure of a lifetime as you explore the infinite riches and natural beauty of the Antarctic Peninsula. Nature takes center stage and unique experiences abound as you hike through penguin colonies, search for pods of whales navigating the waters around you, and share a toast with fellow Adventurers as you glide past glaciers and ice floes. Plus, you’ll kick off your journey to the Antarctic Peninsula with explorations of the diverse landscapes and rich culture of Patagonia, also known as the “End of the World.”
Guests can also book an additional four-day/three-night Buenos Aires Escape, which allows even more time and experiences in the city, prior to their cruise. This Escape departs on February 18, 2022.
Guests on the waitlist for the previously announced Antarctica sailings will be contacted starting today, March 1, 2021. Booking for this additional sailing will begin on March 4, 2021.
Currently, 2021 departures have been suspended through March.
The unlikeliest team of heroes this side of Xandar are gearing up for another round, as Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to begin filming later this year.
Director James Gunn confirmed the news on Twitter Friday afternoon. Gunn famously was fired from the project in July 2018 after old tweets of his resurfaced, sparking a wave of backlash from both fans and the film’s cast, who issued a joint statement supporting him. After production was delayed, Gunn was re-hired in March 2019. Last November, he confirmed that the script was complete.
This will likely be just one of a number of places we’ll soon see Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot and more. Gunn has also been involved in the creation of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, currently under construction at EPCOT, calling the future attraction “utterly mind-blowing.” In addition, Gunn will write and direct The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which will be shot as the same time as the new film, and is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ next year.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to land in theaters in 2023.
