Russell Crowe Joins Cast of “Thor: Love and Thunder”

Though originally meant to be a surprise cameo, Deadline has confirmed that Russell Crowe has a role in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder after he was spotted in set photos. Crowe lives in Australia, where the movie is being filmed.

There is currently no information about Crowe’s role in the film, but insiders say he is just one of many surprises. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will be reprising their roles as Thor and Doctor Jane Foster. Matt Damon will also be reprising his cameo from Thor: Ragnarok, and Christian Bale will be playing the film’s villain.

Taika Waititi is returning as director of the film, which is set to release on May 6, 2022.

Disney MagicMobile Service Now Available to Guests

After only a short period of testing with cast members, Disney has rolled out the MagicMobile service to guests at the Walt Disney World Resort. Those with Apple devices may already access the service via the menu in the MyDisneyExperience app and set up their digital ticket.

The service allows a guests mobile device to act just like a MagicBand, tapping to enter theme parks, and even connecting on-ride photos to their accounts.

Guests can create a Disney MagicMobile Pass for themselves and others, a digital ticket of sorts. There’s even a few designs to choose from that will animate upon park entry.

Disney MagicMobile service will also open your hotel room door, a function that was already available via the MyDisneyExperience app.

Production Begins on “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Star Wars Series for Disney+

“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the new Disney+ special event series starring Ewan McGregor as the iconic Jedi Master, will begin shooting in April. The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season 1.

The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. 

Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. 

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and writer Joby Harold. The casting director is Carmen Cuba.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” will be available exclusively on Disney+.

Permits for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Sets & Show Control Filed by Walt Disney Imagineering

After filing for a series of permits last month, Walt Disney Imagineering has filed three new permits for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the upcoming interactive hotel near Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The first permit in this series is for “low voltage installation and termination of system controls and antennas” to be completed by contractor Raleigh Enterprises, Inc., who was “heavily involved in the development and construction of Raleigh Studios Manhattan Beach by Roy E. Disney’s investment company, Shamrock Holdings.”

The second permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering entails “show control” to be completed by Elite AV Systems.

The last permit of this trio is for “showset installation for Project H” by Dimensional Innovations, Inc. The company describes itself as “always leading with story and design” and has designed experiences for Disney previously, created corporate signage for AMC Theatres, and carried out a “sponsorship master plan that included a theming and graphic storytelling approach” for Orlando City Soccer Club.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will involve characters from Star Wars for its interactive scenes that connect to the storyline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, promising to be exciting for guests of all ages.
