“Raya and the Last Dragon” Treats Arrive at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

To celebrate the upcoming release of Walt Disney Studios’ “Raya and the Last Dragon,” I have some very special treats to share. In addition to the experiences coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom announced previously on Disney Parks Blog, three new creative sweet treats inspired by the film debut today in the Park.

  • Baby Tuk Tuk Mousse – 5-spice mousse on top of chocolate cake, milk chocolate cream, chocolate velvet ”shell,” and chocolate crispy pearls (available starting Feb. 22 at Creature Comforts Coffee Shop and Isle of Java).
  • Baby Tuk Tuk Ice Cream Sundae – Chai-spiced caramel cake, chai caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, green tea cake crumbs, salted caramel crispy pearls, and edible image of Baby Tuk Tuk (available starting Feb. 22 at Dino-Bite Snacks).
  • Mighty Mist Soft-Serve – Twist of strawberry and vanilla soft serve with blue-tinted white chocolate- dipped waffle cone rolled in sparkling sugar (available starting Feb. 22 at Anandapur Ice Cream Truck).

And it gets even sweeter! As a Disney Parks Blog exclusive debut, here is a “foodie inspired” clip from the new film introducing Boun, the self-styled “owner, manager, chef, and captain” of his boat, the Shrimporium.

Don’t miss “Raya and the Last Dragon” releasing simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access on Mar. 5, 2021.

Multiple Series of Shows Related to Disney Attractions Coming To Disney+

Ronald D. Moore is in the process of developing multiple TV projects at Disney Plus that will be set in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, according to Variety.

The first such project will be “The Society of Explorers and Adventurers,” which Moore will write and executive produce. The series is loosely based on the fictional organization of the same name that is part of the Disney theme parks. Mystic Manor, The Jungle Cruise, Tokyo DisneySea’s Tower of Terror and Soaring Fantastic Flight are among the places guests can learn more about the story behind the organization.

“In the show, the themed lands and characters of the Disney parks and classic films all actually exist in another reality.”

Moore is also said to be working with the Walt Disney Imagineering Team on the other projects, which would amount to an interconnected universe similar to Marvel or “Star Wars” but within the world of the Disney theme parks.

Reps for Disney and 20th Television declined to comment.

Virgin Galactic Hires Former Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde

Virgin Galactic, an aerospace company manufacturing air and space vehicles and seeking to provide spaceflight to private individuals and researchers, has hired former Imagineer Joe Rohde, who left Disney this year.

Rohde will be Virgin Galactic’s first Experience Architect, bringing his experience as an Imagineer to the job of designing experiences for the company’s future astronauts.

Rohde, who is most known for his work at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, recently arrived in New Mexico. In the company’s press release, he said, “I spent 40 years with Walt Disney Imagineering and that word, ‘Imagineering,’ refers to the fusion of imagination and engineering. This means I’ve come from a tradition where if you are imagining something, you are imagining that thing is going to be made real. That’s also been going on here at Virgin Galactic, and I’m delighted to be joining at this incredible moment in time when it is about to blossom into public awareness.”

Rohde continued, “This is one of the most profound things that can happen to you. To go beyond the reaches of the earth, to space, and look back down at it. It’s a spectacularly unique opportunity with huge potential for transformational change in a person… What Virgin Galactic is doing, in democratizing space travel, has reached a moment where it is about to enter history. It’s happening right here in New Mexico, and it’s very rare to be a person who gets to be in the place, at the time, that history begins.”

Michael Colglazier, CEO of Virgin Galactic who also previously worked for Disney, said, “As soon as I joined Virgin Galactic, I knew there was one person we just had to work with to help shape the incredible experience we are developing – and that person was Joe Rohde. Joe has a methodology that is unique, inspired, and truly effective. His track record for keeping authenticity central to the design and creating deeply transformative experiences aligns perfectly with our mission. I couldn’t be more pleased to see Joe choose Virgin Galactic for his first encore!”

Major Water Leak Floods Second Floor of Disney’s Boardwalk Villas

A plumbing failure at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas caused a water leak that resulted in flooding and drywall damage to multiple resort rooms. The leak happened between the second and third floors of the Disney Vacation Club Villas around 4am on Saturday, February 20th.

According to a post in a Disney Vacation Club Facebook group, sources stated that over 2 inches of standing water flooded multiple villas. The leak triggered the resort’s fire alarm system and emergency services quickly arrived at the scene.

The since-deleted Facebook post included images of seemingly severe ceiling damage, drywall damage, and standing water inside a resort villa. Industrial fans were spotted today to help repair the damage on both the first and second floor.

Disney has not made a public statement on the details surrounding the incident.
