The feeling of launching out under its undulating canopy is unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced in a Disney park (especially at night!).

I’m typically a front-row coaster guy, but on TRON Lightcycle Power Run, I love sitting farther back, like you see in this video. From this perspective, you have a fantastic view of the glowing lightcyles as they race along in front of you and power through the Grid.”

New Disney Vacation Club Tower at Disneyland Resort Receive Final Approval

The City of Anaheim Planning Commission has approved the final plans for the proposed Disney Vacation Club Tower at the Disneyland Hotel.

The committee was overall satisfied with the presentation that Disney gave, along with the amount of details that were given for various aspects of the proposed resort. The tower addition has been met with positive responses from residents nearby as well, especially with the environmental impact that the new tower would bring to the neighborhood.

The commission voted for a 7-0 approval of the proposed plans and are now sent to the City Council for any further consideration on the matter.

Construction has slowly resumed at the Disneyland Resort, and the development process on the twelve-story Disney Vacation Club tower at the Disneyland Resort continues on as well. Now that the proposed plans have been approved and we’ve seen a peek at the concept art and designs for this tower, including a Mickey-themed “Ink & Paint” pool, we’re eager to see this addition come to life.

The Disney Vacation Club Tower was expected to open by 2023, but with delays caused by the pandemic, this opening date could be pushed back as construction resumes.

Ample Hills Creamery Will No Longer Be Operating Any Walt Disney World Locations

If you were eagerly awaiting the return of Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, plus the debut of the upcoming new Disney Springs location, I’m afraid we have some sad news for you. An Ample Hills spokesperson has stated that the ice cream shop will not be operating any Walt Disney World locations in the near future.

The Boardwalk location has been fairly popular since it opened in 2016, and with the announcement of a second location on the West Side of Disney Springs, with construction already underway, this news is definitely disheartening for fans.

Although the landing page for the Disney Springs location still says “Coming Soon” and the Boardwalk location landing page says, “Temporarily Unavailable”, there was still hope that these locations would eventually reopen at a later date. Sadly, there is no later date, as the Boardwalk location is set to close permanently, with plans on the Disney Springs location now reportedly cancelled.

Ample Hills Creamery filed for bankruptcy on March 16, right before the Boardwalk location closed on March 20 due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Disney’s agreement with Ample Hills ended back in January, according to a company spokesperson.

First Look at NBA Restart Court Featuring “Black Lives Matter” Inside Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports

ESPN reporter Malika Andrews has tweeted a first look at the NBA’s refreshed court inside of Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Chairs several feet apart act as a socially-distanced bench.

The NBA on ESPN Twitter later revealed a closer look at the court, which features the phrase “Black Lives Matter” in large black letters. The NBA is comprised of about 80% Black players.

NBA players are currently living in a “bubble” at Walt Disney World. NBA announced yesterday that no players have tested positive for COVID-19 since July 13. Even though they will be playing together on the same court, the socially distanced chairs still mitigate the risk for players, coaches, and reporters.
