Disney Grants Government Access to Vacant Site For Coronavirus Quarantine Facilities

With both Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disney closed due to the widespread Coronavirus outbreak in China, the parks have seen tremendous financial loss, but according to a recent article by the South China Morning Post, Disney is doing what it can to aid in recovery efforts.

According to officials, Hong Kong Disneyland has agreed to lend part of a vacant site to the government to build coronavirus quarantine facilities. The vacant site is the 60-hectare area reserved for the theme park’s expansion on Lantau Island, and can potentially provide up to 600 quarantine units.

“We have secured the company’s consent to use part of the site if it is needed,” Commerce and Economic Development Bureau chief Edward Yau Tang-wah said at a government press conference. “We need all quarantine facilities for surveillance, basically we will leave no stone unturned [when identifying sites for building quarantine facilities].”

Having sufficient quarantine facilities is one of the conditions that must be met before the government allows the 2,200 Hong Kong residents stranded in Hubei province (the epicenter of the deadly outbreak) back in.

Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure at EPCOT is being replaced with a similar interactive game featuring Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Webby, Scrooge McDuck from DuckTales in the all-new Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure.

Phineas and Ferb Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure is set to end today, February 17th. No official opening date has been announced for its DuckTales-themed successor.

Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will invite guests to join Scrooge McDuck, Donald, Launchpad, Webby and the nephews in search of priceless treasure. Eats at The Epcot Experience Menu Now Available

Eats at the EPCOT Experience is an expansion of the existing snack stand at the preview center attraction, serving salads, flatbreads, and more. Seating was recently expanded throughout the former photo op area of the EPCOT Experience, so guests can pick up their eats and enjoy them in the comfort of the indoor pavilion.

Signage is now out throughout EPCOT and near The Odyssey, with menus posted for guests to preview before the counter service opens at 11:00 AM.

Among the options are cheese and pepperoni flatbreads, a turkey sandwich option, a chopped salad with chicken, and of course, the coveted chicken breast nuggets. Kids options are available for the flatbreads and nuggets. Chips and fries are available as sides, plus a number of desserts like a cookie crunch brownie, Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars, and more. If these items sound familiar, it’s because they’re versions of popular items from the Electric Umbrella, which is scheduled to close soon for a massive remodeling.

Craft beers and soft drinks are also available.

Mike Wazowski To Be Removed From Meet & Greet @ Hollywood Studios

The “Monsters, Inc.” meet and greet inside Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened just last year, but now it looks like one of the dynamic duo will soon be retiring.

Mike Wazowski will meet guests through Saturday, February 22, 2020, but beginning Sunday, February 23, the meet and greet will only feature Sulley.

This meet and greet took over the former space of the Star Lord & Groot and Moana meet and greets which were previously located inside of the attraction. A “Monsters, Inc.” meet and greet was offered for many years at Hollywood Studios near the Backlot Tour attraction, but it was removed for the construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land in 2016.
