Grand Floridian Walkway Seen In A Closed Position For First TIme

Via wdwnt.com

The bridge for the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort walkway was in the closed position this morning as work continues. This is the first time our reporters have caught the bridge in the closed position, which will let guests cross the Electrical Water Pageant canal.

We can see where the bridge will connect with the land on the side of the Magic Kingdom. Of course, there will be a walkway and a lip that the bridge will connect to so guests don’t have to jump to cover that small gap.

The pivoting side of the swing bridge seems to be much further along with the ground being less torn up. Also, this is where much of the equipment is staged as they had to install all the mechanisms here.

The lush Magic Kingdom walkway beckons and will be a welcoming sight for guests walking to or from the park in the bright Florida sun. It appears this side of the bridge needs some additional soil for some leveling of the terrain to match the height of the bridge.

FastPass Tier Changes Made Due To Millenium Falcon Smuggler’s Run Addition

With the addition of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run to the FastPass+ lineup at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Tier-based system has shuffled around its other FastPass+ accessible attractions.

Starting February 19, here is how the new tiered system for FastPass+ will work at Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

Tier 1 will include: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Slinky Dog Dash. Guests will be able to pre-select one of these attractions as a FastPass+ reservation in advance of their visit to the park.

Tier 2 will include: Toy Story Mania!, Alien Swirling Saucers, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Disney Junior Dance Party!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Muppet*Vision 3D, Fantasmic!, Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage. Guests will be able to pre-select two of these attractions as a FastPass+ reservation in advance of their visit to the park.

FastPass+ tiers at the park were last changed with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. As always, Boarding Groups for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance work independently from the FastPass+ system, and having a group secured will not interfere with your FastPass+ selections. FastPass+ selections made prior to this changes will not be affected, and tiers will remain as they are currently through February 18. Starting February 19, if neither of the Tier 1 are available, guests may choose from any three options in Tier 2.

New State-of-the-Art M&M Stores Coming To Disney Springs

Disney Springs’ West Side may have just gotten a bit sweeter with the recent announcement of a new, state-of-the-art M&M’s retail store taking over the former Curl and Fit2Run stores next to Splitsville. Now, new concept art has been released for the storefront.

Furthering its vision to create unforgettable experiences across the globe through the world’s most iconic chocolate brand, Mars Retail Group announced in December the relocation of its existing M&M’S experiential store from Orlando to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort. Construction is expected to begin immediately with an anticipated 2020 grand opening date.

The new state-of-the-art store at Disney Springs will be one of five M&M’S experiential stores owned and operated by Mars Retail Group, bringing the best experience of the M&M’S Brand to life in locations across North America, Europe and Asia. These include locations in New York, Las Vegas, London and Shanghai.

With the opening of this new store in 2020, the existing M&M’s retail location inside the Florida Mall will be closing.

Walt Disney World Railroad Stationary Train Will Be Moved To Fantasyland

The Walt Disney World Railroad closed on December 3, 2018 to accommodate for the start of TRON Lightcycle Run construction. Since then, the train has sat stationary at the train station on Main Street as an exhibit of sorts, where guests are welcome to walk up and down the platform to analyze the train, its engine, and sound the bell.

Today, January 27, the train exhibit will be moving to the Fantasyland station at Storybook Circus.

Internal refurbishment calendars have confirmed that the train will remain closed through 2020. Interestingly enough, the Frontierland and Fantasyland were shown as opening in early 2020. Those openings are to allow the train to shuttle to the Fantasyland station for the exhibit move.
