Extended Hours for Imagination! Pavilion Attractions

Guests looking to spend a bit of extra time with Figment or enjoy some Pixar short films late at night will be pleased to know that operating hours have been extended for all Imagination! Pavilion attractions starting January 12th.

Starting January 12th and running through February 29th, all attractions within the Imagination! Pavilion will be open from park open to park close. Typically these attractions close at 7:00 PM, with the exception of evening Extra Magic Hours or peak crowds.

Journey into Imagination with Figment, the Disney-Pixar Short Film Festival, and the newly-opened Mickey Mouse meet and greet inside the Film Festival will be open from park open to park close.

You’ll notice that these dates coincide with the scheduled annual Test Track refurbishment, which is set to take place from January 13th, 2020 to February 26, 2020. Hours are often extended elsewhere in the park whenever a major attraction is closed for refurbishment to accommodate crowds.

New Concept Art Released For Avatar Sequel

The official Twitter account of James Cameron’s Avatar film franchise has released new concept art informing fans that they won’t just be returning to Pandora in the sequel, they’ll be exploring new parts of the vast world…

For fans of Avatar – Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, many of these scenes may seem familiar––and that’s because they are. According to film producer John Landau, instead of exploring new planets, all of the Avatar sequels will seek to explore the planet even further. Avatar 2 will focus on the underwater world of Pandora’s oceans. Some of the creatures featured in the attraction will also make an appearance in the sequel.

As for the new locations, like the large Jupiter-like planet and moons looming in the background, it will be interesting to see if these new locations make it onto new versions of Avatar – Flight of Passage in the future. Much like recent changes to Star Tours for the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the benefit to screen rides is that you can update the footage when things change.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are expected to reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri, respectively, while new cast members include Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, and Jemaine Clement.

The second Avatar film is set to release on December 17, 2021.

Blizzard Beach Refurbishment Extended

Blizzard Beach, the ski resort themed water park at Walt Disney World, closed for an extended refurbishment last September. The refurbishment was originally set to conclude on January 13th, but has since been extended past that date.

The refurbishment is now set to be completed by January 18th, with the water park reopening to guests on January 19th. Typhoon Lagoon will then close for its annual refurbishment.

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach close every year in the winter for refurbishments during the cold weather season when water park demand is low. However, Disney has stated that this refurbishment will include “additional refurbishment work and enhancements” above the normal work. Water slide parts––reportedly for Summit Plummet––were recently seen staged at the parking lot of Blizzard Beach.
