The 10-episode Mighty Ducks tv show coming to Disney+ will have Emilio Estevez on the cast when the show debuts. According to The Illuminerdi, Estevez will reprise his role as Coach Gordon Bombay for the show and will be a lead character in the show.
Emilio Estevez was one of the main characters in both The Mighty Ducks and D2: The Mighty Ducks. His role was reduced to a cameo in D3: The Mighty Ducks due to scheduling concerns, so it is good to see Estevez return to a full role for the show.
A summary of the show reads:
“After getting kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team, a 13-year-old boy and his mom decide to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play,”
Filming of the show is set to begin next month in Vancouver and conclude in early June.
Hot off the heels of the live-action Bambi announcement, Deadline reports that Pinocchio will be the next live-action Disney film. While there have been no casting announcements, Robert Zemeckis is signed on to direct and co-write the film with Chris Weitz.
This is not Disney’s first attempt at a Pinocchio live-action remake. A couple years ago, it was announced that Paddington 2 director Paul King would helm a Pinocchio remake. King exited the production in January 2019 and nothing has been heard of the film since then.
A draft of the script penned by Chris Weitz and Simon Farnaby currently exists and will be re-written by Weitz and Zemeckis. Chris Weitz previously wrote the script for Disney’s live-action Cinderella remake.
The original 1940 Pinocchio was Walt Disney Animation Studios’ second full-length animated feature after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It follows puppet Pinocchio, who comes to life after his creator, Geppetto, wishes on a star. Pinocchio goes on an adventure with his conscience, Jiminy Cricket, to must prove himself brave, truthful, and unselfish so he can become a real boy.
The original Pinocchio cost $2.289 million to produce, twice as much as Snow White, but only recouped $1 million by the end of 1940, surprising Walt Disney Animation Studios. After multiple re-releases, the film has now garnered $85 million in the box office.
We do not yet know when the live-action Pinocchio will be released, but Disney has dates lined up for live-action releases through December 2023, so we can expect to see the film taking one of these slots.

Harrison Ford talks about what makes Buck so special in this new featurette for “The Call Of The Wild”.
“The Call Of The Wild” opens in theaters on February 21st.
Adapted from the beloved literary classic, “The Call Of The Wild” vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.
As a live-action/animation hybrid, “The Call Of The Wild” employs cutting edge visual effects and animation technology in order to render the animals in the film as fully photorealistic–and emotionally authentic–characters.
