“Reflections – A Lakeside Lodge” Details

As we have mentioned in a previous article, Disney will be welcoming a brand new WDW Resort. Here is what we know;

1. What is It?

It’s called Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge, and when it’s completed, it’ll be the 16th DVC property.  A deluxe resort, it will boast over 900 resort rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas, and a pretty cool location!

2. When Will it Open?

2022 is the expected year for the opening of Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, so we still have a few years to wait!  There are several other Disney resort projects currently in the works in WDW, and this means we’ll have more than 1700 new resort rooms and villas to enjoy when all is said and done.

3. Where Will it Be?

You may remember visiting Disney’s River Country, WDW’s first water park, before it closed in 2001.  Or you may have been intrigued by the idea of an abandoned Disney park (and who could blame you?), and followed the rumors that have been swirling for years about the future development of the site.  Well, they’re rumors no longer!  Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge will be built on the site of River Country, between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, on Bay Lake.  We love the idea of taking a former Disney park that has been rotting away, tantalizingly close to current WDW magic, and turning it into a resort for new generations to enjoy.

Latest Bus Designs

Early this summer we got to see a new look for some of the Walt Disney World buses, as the sensational six: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto hit the roadways.

As we roll on into September, even more buses featuring characters from some of the most beloved Disney films are joining the fleet. Now guests will be able to enjoy a ‘Hakuna Matata’ journey with Simba from Disney’s “The Lion King,” experience a whole lot of laughs with Mike and Sully from “Monsters, Inc.,” or see how far they’ll go with Moana – as these new designs full of character and fun hit the roads around Walt Disney World!

If that wasn’t enough… in the coming weeks, additional buses featuring characters from Disney’s “Frozen” and many more will be making their way to Walt Disney World as well.

And, similar to the buses featuring the sensational six, these buses have those new blue seats and laminate floors throughout. Some of the buses will also have USB charging ports conveniently located between seats, so you can re-charge your devices and not miss a moment of capturing and sharing your Disney vacation memories.

You can check out even more photos of the recent “The Lion King” bus here. Other additions to the Disney character buses include Dumbo as well as Rocket and Groot from “Guardians of the Galaxy”!

Can’t wait to see the new ones!

“Muppets Live Another Day” Canceled

“Muppets Live Another Day,” a rumored Disney+ project that would’ve seen Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang team up with Josh Gad, has been canceled, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gad, along with fellow series co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, have reportedly departed from the series’ production, prompting Disney to abandon the project. The show had never been officially announced, but rumors about the show date back as early as February of this year.

The show had been rumored to take place following the events of 1984’s The Muppets Take Manhattan (hence the project name “Muppets 1984”), as Kermit once again disbands the Muppet troupe, but they reunite to help find a missing Rowlf the Dog.

According to the Reporter‘s Lesley Goldberg, regime changes at Muppets Studios were a major factor in the decision to cancel the project. Gad, Horowitz and Kitsis had been working closely with studio vice president Debbie McClellan on “Muppet Live Another Day,” but McClellan soon departed from the studio. Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, then named Disney Parks Live Entertainment Senior Vice President David Lightbody to take over the studio. Lightbody apparently wanted to take a different direction on the Muppets, and reportedly offered the trio a chance to work on a new project featuring the characters, but the three felt strongly about their vision for the Muppets, and decided to walk away from the project rather than throw away over a year of work on a project they had faith in. Goldberg reports that the decision to depart from the project was amicable.

Gad took to social media to discuss the news, revealing previously-unrevealed aspects of the abandoned series, including original songs written by Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez of Frozen fame.

The cancellation of the project does not affect the production of “Muppets Now,” the unscripted variety shorts series coming to Disney+ next year. The show was officially announced at this year’s D23 Expo.
