Disney Parks to Offer Plant-Based Menu This October

Disney has announced that soon, all of its major quick and table service restaurants will soon be serving up plant-based options at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort – along with a new plant-based menu icon coming to Disney dining. Guests will now be able to choose from hundreds of sweet and savory creations, including many brand-new dishes destined to become fan favorites!

In addition to the new plant-based options, Disney will introduce a new menu icon, a green leaf, that will make it easier than ever to find these creations on menus across Disney Parks.

These new options are made from plant-based ingredients like vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes – and are made without animal meat, dairy, eggs or honey. From comfort-food classics to exciting new dishes for the adventurer in all of us, everyone will find something to delight their tastebuds.

On October 1 at quick service locations and October 3 at table service locations, Walt Disney World Resort will launch the plant-based menu icon and introduce new options at all theme parks and resort hotels. If you’re craving tasty plant-powered snacks and treats during your visit, you can explore more than 400 craveable dishes!

  • Steamed Asian Dumplings from Le Cellier at Epcot – You’ll love these plant-based meat dumplings, served with bok choy, Chinese long beans, red peppers and radish in a delicious and fragrant Asian broth.
  • Shiriki Noodle Salad from Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen at Magic Kingdom Park – This refreshing salad is made with noodles, edamame beans, mushrooms, green mango and cucumber, tossed with a sweet chili sauce.
  • Felucian Garden Spread from Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort) – Made with plant-based “kefta,” herb hummus, tomato-cucumber relish and pita, this is the perfect bite for your visit to a galaxy far, far away.
  • Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl from Satu’li Canteen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – This taste of Pandora features crispy tofu, seasoned with chili-spice and topped with a crunchy vegetable slaw, boba balls and your choice of base and sauce.
  • Plant-Based Cashew Cheescake from California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Just one of many scrumptious plant-based desserts available at Walt Disney World Resort.

Whether you’re visiting Magic Kingdom Park, tasting your way across the globe at Epcot’s World Showcase, or grabbing a bite in a galaxy far, far away, you’re sure to find a plant-powered dish to enjoy.

At Disneyland, the new menu icon and many new plant-based options are coming in spring 2020, so guests won’t have to wait long to savor exciting new flavors. And across the world, Disney is serving up delicious plant-based cuisine, including Risotto-style Spelt with Mushrooms at Disneyland Paris, Pan-fried Vegetables with Plant-based Dumplings at Hong Kong Disneyland, or Caramel Mix Nuts Banana Cake at Shanghai Disney Resort. When sailing the high seas with Disney Cruise Line there are bites to find, from a Plant-Based Chili Dog and Plant-Based Eggs to Chocolate Truffle Cake.

New Character Voice Greetings Installed in Elevators @ Disney’s Beach Club Resort

If you’ve ever taken a ride on any of the elevators at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you’ll know that on your ascent or descent, you’re welcomed by the friendly voices of Mickey, Minnie, and even Goofy. It’s a small touch, but a sweet one nevertheless as it adds the quintessential “Disney touch” to any Disney Resort.

Now the Disney’s Contemporary Resort isn’t the only one with fun character elevators, as Disney’s Beach Club Resort now sports the fab four (terrific three?) in various elevator bays as well. As you go from floor to floor, a different character in each elevator will read out the level.

Change-Ups Happening within the Walt Disney Company

In a surprising bit of news, Catherine Powell, President of the western region of Disney Parks, has left The Walt Disney Company. Powell was in charge of overseeing Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris. Her position has been eliminated, and now the presidents of each of the three resorts will report to Bob Chapek directly.

Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney’s Parks, Experiences and Products division, now concentrates his power over Disney’s theme park portfolio with this change. This news comes after disappointing financial numbers at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Disneyland and Walt Disney World will see new Presidents in the coming weeks, with George Kalogridis, the current Walt Disney World President, moving to a new role.

Current Disneyland President Josh D’Amaro will move to Walt Disney World to oversee that resort. Rebecca Campbell, current head of Europe, Middle East and Africa segment of Direct-to-Consumer, will be promoted to President of the Disneyland Resort.

Disneyland Paris will be handed off to Michael Colglazier, current lead for Parks in Asia. Current leadership in Disneyland Paris otherwise remains unchanged, with Colglazier taking on the additional role of Disneyland Paris management. George Kalogridis, current President of Walt Disney World, will be promoted to President of Disney Segment Development and Enrichment.

Was this needed or were these major corporate changes unnecessary?
