Cal Ripken is Bringing Baseball Academy to Walt Disney World

Via the Disney Parks Blog;

“Cal Ripken Jr., one of the most accomplished professional baseball players ever to put on a uniform, is coming to Walt Disney World Resort and he is bringing his successful youth baseball academy with him.

That means young baseball players (ages 6-18) can come to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex next year to compete in high-level youth baseball tournaments.

In addition to being on their field of dreams at Disney, these young players will get a chance to have a whole lot of fun. For instance, the players will be treated to a dazzling opening ceremony and have free time in the parks to experience new and popular attractions, such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which opens Aug. 29.

Ripken played 21 seasons for the Baltimore Orioles and was a 19-time All-Star shortstop.  He earned the nickname “The Iron Man” after setting the professional baseball record for most consecutive games played (2,632). “

New Barn @ Disney’s Fort Wilderness

Many guests may not be aware that there are many ponies that call Walt Disney World their home. Over a Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, guests can check out these beautiful animals. Disney Parks Blog shared that there will be a new, beautiful barn built for them! The Imagineers have redesigned Tri-Circle-D Ranch and will create a more modern stable as well as updated outdoor spaces and facilities.

For those of you who are big fans of Fort Wilderness, the new ranch will still maintain the history and spirit of the original Tri-Circle-D Ranch. There will be Disney equestrian artifacts on display, with some of them dating back to the 1950s.

The Draft Horse Barn and Pony Farm will be temporarily unavailable starting on August 19th, 2019 through Spring 2020 while the new barn is being constructed. Guests will still be able to enjoy pony rides in the meantime at Trail Blaze Corral, which is near the campground’s entrance. Trail rides and carriage rides will also have normal operation.
