It was just announced at the D23 Expo that Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new original series coming to the Disney+ streaming service. The Series Producer, Kathleen Kennedy, states, “We have all the scripts written we’re ready to start shooting next year.”

Ewan McGregor played Obi-Wan Kenobi in all three of the Star Wars prequels “The Phantom Menace,” “Attack of the Clones,” and “Revenge of the Sith.”

Disney+ Reveals Trailers for Original Movies and Series at D23

Besides the heavily hyped trailer for The Mandalorian, the D23 Expo also saw other trailers get revealed for Disney’s new streaming service Disney+, set to be released on November 12th.

Here are a few of the those trailers;

Lady and the Tramp

A new live action version of the animated classic the Lady and the Tramp will be coming to the streaming service.

Noelle

In Disney+’s holiday comedy (and who doesn’t love holiday movies) “Noelle,” Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun, but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick. Her brother is destined to take over from their father this Christmas but it about to crumble from all the pressure. In an effort to help, Noelle suggests he take a break and get away but he never returns. Noelle must go on an epic adventure to find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum

This new series by National Geographic has me really interested. The show features Jeff Goldblum as we see the world through his always inquisitive and highly entertaining mind.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

The new 10-episode scripted series, is not a remake of the original movie but rather a modern take on the classic from 15 years ago. The series is set as the real-life East High, where the original movie was filmed, and follows a group of students as they countdown to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.”

See anything that you will definitely be watching?

The Mandalorian Trailer Released at D23

The first public trailer for Jon Favreau’s highly anticipated Star Wars series The Mandalorian has arrived, and it looks fantastic.

Although a similar trailer was shown at Star Wars Celebration, it was never made available to the public. The trailer opens with helmets on stakes, and ominous shots of people hanging out in the desert. Then it moves into Star Wars action — fighting spaceships, battling droids, and face-to-face confrontations. It certainly feels freakier than a traditional Star Wars movie, but it also feels extremely Star Wars.

The Mandalorian is one of the biggest launch titles coming to the new streaming service Disney+. It’s heavily inspired by fan-favorite character Boba Fett and his father, Jango. The new Mandalorian character, played by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) will also help fill in the gap between Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, just after the fall of the Empire, and the rise of the First Order.

The goal is to bring a “darker, freakier side of Star Wars,” executive producer Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King) told The Hollywood Reporter. He wants to use the show’s aesthetic to answer questions about what it’s like to be on Tatooine during the era between trilogies. The original Star Wars trilogy, especially the first film, used Tatooine as a significant setting, and Favreau wants to use that area to tell new stories.

The Mandalorian gives Favreau the “opportunity to tell a story that’s bigger than television, but you don’t have the same expectations that a big holiday release has, which to me isn’t that type of Star Wars that comes out of me,” he told the Reporter.

“The type of Star Wars that I’m inspired to tell is a smaller thing with new characters,” Favreau said.

The Mandalorian is also the first Star Wars live-action TV series, and a major play to bring subscribers to Disney+. The company is hoping to build up a significant subscriber base — around 10 million subscribers by the end of 2020 — and having shows like The Mandalorian to bring people in is important to hitting that goal.

The Mandalorian will be available to stream when Disney+ launches on November 12th. The service will cost $6.99 a month or can be purchased as a bundle with ad-supported Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99 a month.

Avengers Coming to California Adventure and Disneyland Paris

California Adventure and Disneyland Paris will new Super Hero themed lands in the future. That was already known. What wasn’t known was what they would be called.

Yesterday, Disney announced these fantastic lands will be called Avengers Campus.

When guests visit Avengers Campus, they will become part of an interconnected, global story that spans from California to Paris to Hong Kong with the Avengers recruiting new extraordinary people to join them.

Inside the pavilion at D23 Expo, guests will be able to see an in-story experience where they’ll learn why the Avengers are building these campuses. And on Sunday, more details will be shared about what the guests will be able to experience when they open.

The pavilion will also feature many of the attractions and lands coming to sites around the world including TRON Lightcycle Run coming to Magic Kingdom Park, as well as additional expansions in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

This will only be one of many announcements at this year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Stay tuned for more updates.
