A brand-new fireworks show set to debut this week on August 16, 2019 will feature Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” as host for the new “Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular” fireworks show at Magic Kingdom Park. This spellbinding display features state-of-the-art projection effects, lasers, lighting and dazzling fireworks.
His ghost dog, Zero, flies off carrying everyone along on a trick-or-treating adventure, where four friends – Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy – find themselves drawn into a mysterious haunted house. Their journey takes them from one room of the house to another, encountering dancing skeletons, waltzing ghosts and a whole series of troublemaking Disney villains. The show will also include state-of-the-art projections and lasers, plus lighting and dazzling fireworks that will fill the sky above Magic Kingdom Park.

Disney Springs has become a massive shopping paradise with lots of store to peruse through. However, it’s dining options may be the thing that has made it an even better place to spend a few hours or half a day. With six award winning, chef-owned locations, there is definitely amazing food to be had. Beatrix is the next great restaurant to come to the Disney “Mall”.
According to Disney Parks Blog;
Beatrix, owned by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (a Chicago-based restaurant group), will open their first restaurant in Florida at Disney Springs West Side. Beatrix is your neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and grab-and-go market featuring healthy food options including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan along with fresh-squeezed juice cocktails. The restaurant will also offer a bakery and full-service bar with a selection of all-American beer and wine. Executive Partner and Divisional President, Marc Jacobs, explains “Beatrix represents the way people are eating today – it’s that mix of health and comfort. Whether grabbing a cup of coffee and your favorite pastry, or having a cocktail, lunch, or dinner with friends, it’s your neighborhood meeting place.”
Walt Disney World’s latest signature restaurant is open in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot. Takumi-Tei is Japanese for “house of the artisan”, and the name is perfect for this artistic new dining experience.
Takumi-Tei celebrates the five natural elements; earth, stone, washi paper, water, and wood. These are represented by five globes as you enter the restaurant. Each globe has a Haiku printed below it. Once inside, you will dine in a room that has a corresponding theme. Each room is decorated to match its element, and even the chairs are different colors to represent the element. The restaurant is not very large, but that is part of its charm. There is a calming feeling throughout the space.
In the Water Room, there is a working fountain. The Water Room is where the Chef’s Table takes place. That is a nine course meal. The chef will join the group with the various courses to explain what they are all about. A meal at the Chef’s Table at Takumi-Tei is not something that you will rush through. It is recommended that you give yourself and your party at least three hours to dine. It is for groups of six to eight people, and the cost is $180 per person. A six course beverage package can be added for an additional $100 per guest.
Exciting news! With the opening Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in just about three weeks Disney has opened reservations for some its most popular offerings within the land. Reservations will be required to enjoy these experiences, so you’ll want to make them as soon as possible for your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Three expereinces–Oga’s Cantina, Droid Depot, and Savi’s Workshop-Handbuilt Lightsabers, will require reservations to enjoy the experiences.
At Oga’s Cantina, even the blaster-bolt scorches on the walls tell a story. Here, guests gather to share their tales from around the galaxy as they enjoy exotic beverages served in unique vessels and listen to spirited musical entertainment provided by DJ R-3X, otherwise known as Rex, the former Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid from the original Star Tours. Rex re-invents himself as the cantina’s DJ, and he’s as quirky and talkative as ever.
The Droid Depot invites guests to construct their own astromech droids. Patrons pick pieces and parts off a conveyor belt to build one of two core models (R-series or BB-series) and they can customize their droids with various parts and colors. These droids interact with elements throughout the land, enhancing guests’ adventures. Additional accessories can be added to further customize these new friends. In addition, the Droid Depot will offer pre-built droids, droid-inspired toys and apparel, and more.
At Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers, guests have the opportunity to craft and customize their very own lightsabers. In this mystical experience, guests feel the Force as they build these elegant weapons from a more civilized age.
It’s important to know that entry into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be limited and will be subject to capacity. Having a reservation to one of these experiences appears to gurantee you entry into the land. Disney has the following information on the Oga’s Cantina page:
Checking In Guests should check in no earlier than 15 minutes prior to their reservation time with the Cast Member at the end of the queue at Oga’s Cantina inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Each person in your party must be present upon check-in and for admission to the land and the cantina. Please be prepared to present your reservation confirmation email, photo ID and the credit card provided at the time of booking.
Guests will be admitted as soon as space that accommodates their party size becomes available. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.
Some exciting news in the way of food coming out of Disney Springs this month.
According to a Disney cast member;
This month I have several new offerings at Walt Disney World Resort to share with you! With new eats at Disney Springs.
At Disney Springs, I have lots of news including three new additions as well as new offerings at D-Luxe Burger and Earl of Sandwich. The first of the new additions is a new food truck called “Cookie Dough and Everything Sweet” featuring – you guessed it – COOKIE DOUGH! That’s right, you can soon find edible cookie dough desserts at Disney Springs! On the menu:
Springs Candy Taco – Candy Monster Cookie Dough, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry served in a waffle taco
Minnie Mouse Taco – Peanut Butter Fluff Cookie Dough, caramel sauce, whipped cream, a cherry, and a chocolate Minnie bow served in a waffle taco
Celebration Parfait – Celebration Cookie Dough with Celebration Mickey cake, vanilla custard, strawberries, whipped cream, and a cherry
Mickey or Minnie Funnel Cake – funnel cake topped with powdered sugar and Mickey or Minnie-shaped cookie dough
Cookie Dough Cup or Cone – Flavors include Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Fluff, Celebration, Cookies and Cream, Candy Monster, and Cold Brew
This new cookie dough-themed food truck will open later this month and will be parked near the other food trucks across from Candy Cauldron at Disney Springs West Side.
Also coming later this month, a guest favorite from the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort is heading to Disney Springs: Sunshine Churro! You’ll find Sunshine Churro carts at the Marketplace and West Side. These carts serve up a variety of classic and gourmet churros with flavors like watermelon, salted caramel, strawberry cheesecake, fruity cereal, and cookies and cream. You can even try churros dipped in milk chocolate or chocolate-hazelnut spread.
And coming soon, I’m excited to share that Ample Hills Creamery will be opening a brand new location at Disney Springs West Side. The scoop shop will offer their popular handcrafted ice cream and mix-ins (like brownie bites, oatmeal lace cookies and butter pecan brittle) similar to the offerings available at the Ample Hills Creamery located at Disney’s BoardWalk. At Ample Hills, every component tells a story — from the ingredients, to the design of the pints, making it another “Instagrammable” foodie destination.
On the savory side, you’ll find a new Pepperoni Pizza Burger at D-Luxe Burger topped with artisan pepperoni, fried mozzarella and Pomodoro sauce. And at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, if you haven’t had the new “Temple of Bacon” dish, then you’re totally missing out! It comes with thick-cut Applewood-smoked bacon dipped in milk and chipotle chocolate ganache from The Ganachery.
At Earl of Sandwich, try one of their new cheesesteak sandwiches! Choose between the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with tender chopped beef steak or the Chicken Cheesesteak Sandwich with grilled chicken. Both are served on freshly-baked artisan bread and topped with provolone, mushrooms, sautéed green peppers, and onions. There’s also a Veggie Cheesesteak Sandwich featuring provolone, mushrooms, sautéed green peppers, onions, and HP sauce.
Be sure to check these new locations on your next visit to Disney Springs!
